Quest: The Flooded Grove wont advance

Activated the wards, defeated the watcher, Orthenir will not react to either the Watcher or my defeat of the Watcher. Just tells me to tread carefully and the quest goes nowhere. Any options here? I tried reloading UI, restarting quest 3 times, waiting until much later and several zone transfers, nothing restarts him. I just saw another player move forward with no problem, so perhaps it is an addon or something, but it seems strange an addon would interfere with quest advancement.

CP 140 Mag Sorc with volatile pet, if that matters.

After activating the wards, you should talk to Orthenir before killing the Watcher. Then after you kill the Watcher, you complete the ritual and don't need to talk to him anymore. Can you get the Watcher to respawn?

Try entering IImyris and looking for Saromir and talk to him/her.

I tried talking with him first last time, no help. I will try again later.

I can't enter Ilmyris until the quest moves forward, as it gives a greyed out door.

Ok, tried again. As soon as I approach the grove, even before entering it, after I light the wards, the watcher spawns and Orthenir refuses to say anything except walk carefully...

So, if you kill the Watcher again, it still won't let you complete the ritual? After killing the Watcher, you go to the ritual site and complete the ritual. Then Orthenir tells you to investigate IImyris. Here's a video, if it helps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZtqI5N7kqk

So that part where you enter the grove, the watcher spawns and Orthenir cowers and pleads for you to kill it never happens for me. The watcher spawns, but Orthenir does not react at all, says nothing and does not ask me to help complete the ritual afterwards.

Strangely, I have noticed that an hour after trying the quest again, while I was in the middle of another quest, I hear Orthenir finally ask for help with completing the ritual, but when I go back, same stuck unresponsive Orthenir.

This is clearly a bug of some sort.

Well, that sucks! You may have to abandon the quest and start over or submit an ingame bug report. I hope you get it sorted.

hehe, I actually posted here because I could not find the in-game bug reporter. Should have done that first I suppose. Just found it and submitted one.

For reference, I can post photos here if they are useful to bug fixing.

Do you actually have a pin over the altar stating that you should be able to use it?

I think I remember this one and it just being hard to interact with. I would recommend carefully moving your crosshairs over the Altar until you see the USE prompt appear.

I do see the pin, but none of Ornethir's commentary kicked in and all that pops up near the pin is "talk with Ornethir," which only gives his "tread carefully" response. I will try the careful maneuvering of the crosshairs later today and get back here.

Customer service suggested I try disabling my addons and redoing the quest, so I will do that and see. That is what I am guessing is causing the problem, as many other players interacted with the altar while I was retrying multiple times.

For reference, here are the images (no laughing at my fps )







There is a dead watcher in addition to the live one in one of the images, but the same problem has happened when there were not other players immediately around spawning multiple watchers.

This is the only quest this has happened with so far and I have run through most quests in 12 or so zones. That tells me there is something special about the timing of Ornethir's reaction when the watcher spawns that is causing a problem with my set up or addons.

You were right. I had to move my camera into first-person, look away from Orthenir, and focus on a the outer rim of the altar, but finally I was able to click on the altar.

Why his voice response did not trigger when the watcher spawned and why other players seemed to just run up and click the altar I am not sure of, but the quest seems to be progressing now.
