Motif Costumes

I generally really like the armor design of ESO - but some pieces, particularly certain monster sets, look... Well they don't agree with my aesthetic preferences.

Sadly; things such as monster sets and the invariably Celestial-looking Twice-Fanged Snake set (or Necropotence, or any of the other grinded things) are pretty much the only viable options end-game, so; seeing as Jewelry Crafting isn't a thing for now I have an idea.

Once a Character has learend all chapters of a crafting motif, they get a costume for Light/Medium/heavy of that particular set. Like I love the Dro-m'Athra style, and I'd like to look like a crazy, electric, daedra-khajiit without having to dumb my character's effectiveness.

Hell; you could even sell the option for this in the crown store.

And now that I got your attention with a money-grabbing chance; can we adress some of the issues that make players quit/whine-and-drag-down-the-community? I know you're working on PVP lag, and I know (due to the universal human trait: stubborness) you won't rollback Morrowind's sustain changes; but could you make sustain at least a little easier? Alot of people are really, really hating how Heavy-Attack spamming has become, not an optional build, but the optimal build for alot of DPS, and even if you have a spamble like Force Pulse of Flame Whip you're still bound to weave in heavy attacks sooner or later, because of how hard sustain is.

And so my second suggestion is; let the community somehow vote/compile a list of top 10-20 issues to fix, and get cracking on those (I realize big issues like "lag" aren't just "fixed", but stuff like "this boss in that dungeon always messes up; this ability is underpowered; this set needs to change; these abilities should be cheaper for better sustain, etc).
I think it is central to ESO's well-being to critique the developers when they change the game (or fail to change something).
But the negativity can be exhausting, so I vow to post 50/50 negativity and appreciation.

First we need ZOS to take my suggestion :(

I'd much rather see what Star Wars Old Republic did and have tabs that you can click on that you have different looking outfits on which don't mess up stats of your original outfit
When asked what he would do for a Klondike bar. Grand Moff Tarkin said "why I would blow up Alderaan."

I could name at least 4 games in which you'd consumer an armour/weapon set in order for it's appearance to be used over the equiped gear on your toon.

In those games the 'crown store' sold a lot of skins as well. So if Zos is afraid that they'd lose money to a gear appearance change system, they shouldn't.
They need to double up and deliver this system asap.
What's the use of having learned all these motifs if I must wear monster/dropped sets in order to be relevant in trials and PvP???

    Come on zos.. double up

Should be any level of gear of that motif to use as a costume too.

They seem to have a transmogrification system in the works, with no known release date. Not sure if this will allow you to look like you're wearing a homespun robe instead of a rubedite cuirass, or if it'll just apply style to style, but in any case the feature is highly desired.

    Takes too long.
    It's been long overdue.
It was a mistake to not have it in the first place, since they have so many styles.

Not really. The original design was for crafted motifs to be the best. (Until Imperial City dropped, crafted gear had higher stats than an equivalent dropped item.) Drop sets were supposed to be training wheels, while crafters would get you your real endgame gear. IC introduced a lot of mechanics to walk that back.

So, originally, the idea that you'd never need to transform gear made sense. You weren't really expected to use drop sets (aside from maybe jewelry) at endgame, so you could simply have it crafted to whatever spec you wanted.

True. However we will never know if they intended to always have crafted gear as best. And if so, why did they let the changes happen with OT?
    They need to deliver. Quickly.
