Seriously, you must look on the positive sides of ESO. One year ago on One Tamriel launch the game was a huge success. They had ads in the primetime, game was simply a blast. 99% of games don't even get there, what we witnessed was really rare and not obvious at all.

One Tamriel was a blast - then the disaster of Morrowing came and neutered the fun straight out of the game and turned into a boring sustain fest, and further shoehorned people into meta builds for PVP.

Basically they did a 180 of what was great about One Tam, not but half a year later.

ESO is epic game, but this is not place or time to say that. ZOS must focus on fixing bad sides of ESO and We should remind them about it every single day. They need to be more productive and less lollygagging.

Have you not watched them actively nerf the fun out of every single class in the last year?

As far as world building and quest design, they're still aces But gameplay wise, the changes they've made haven't just been bad; they've been blithering-idiot bad. Drooling-imbecile bad.

Add to that the stupid-low droprates of so many items in the game, the polluted loot tables, the time consuming pointless repeatable content with little chance of actually giving you something desirable, the fact that a 90% chance of pickpocketing success is more like a 40% rate of pickpocketing success, the fact that we need TTC to even have close to baseline functionality in the trade system, et cetera, and this particular camel is staring to notice that there's an awful lot of straw loaded on his back.

The simple, abiding rule of a company in ZOS' position is this: If it makes the game less fun, don't do it. They have badly lost sight of that rule.

Along with all the nerfs, performance in Cyrodiil is at its worst in a long time. I mash keys now until the ability in question fires off, there's no more precision one-button presses during a fight. If you want your toon to do what you want you will have to hit the key more than once a good deal of the time. Even if there's no zerg in sight. I unsubbed a month ago and it's gotten worse since.

People don't like change . Even necessary change makes many uncomfortable . Too much change in a game is bad for player retention . If a developer is going to implement a lot of change , communication is more important then ever to keep players more relaxed during change .

Most of these topics are a reaction to both these issues and the longer the situation continues the larger the escalation of negative reaction .

To help address this, we’ll be decreasing the melee range for Petrify so it covers a slightly smaller area – this will also make it slightly harder to apply to the enemy to make up for the increased power level of Petrify."

This is from Wrobels post in the PTS Dragonknight Feedback thread. Basically people use Petrify over Stonefist "because it's more reliable" so they're going to nerf Petrify. Nothing to do with Petrify itself.

Decisions like this make me believe that the combat devs at least don't really know what direction they want the game to go in. Add to this the server issues, excessive grind due to whatever is going on with the RNG/drop rates, crown crates, the Morrowind sustain changes etc, etc, etc...

I've adapted to the changes many times and used to really love the game but at this point it just seems like a tedious grind. So I've uninstalled and unsubbed for now and will just check in on the forums and website to see what changes are being made.

Seriously how do you guys still play this heap of garbage?

Came back after a couple months away and met with lag, imbalance, lag, lag, lag, lag.

Seriously just stop giving them your money. ESO never got better really, just superficially. At this point its more of a social game. They should just make it more like sims.

At one point I really liked it because I figured theyd hammer out the issues but no. Really wish I could get all my ESO plus money back :(

Played for nearly 3 years......years Ill never get back. Now if they fixed the lag, balanced PVP, better incentivized PVP, then I'd happily eat my words. But they wont.

The people who are enjoying the game don't have the time to post on the forums. Personally, I'm cooking dinner, so I can't play. I am considering doing a post every day or so about things I've seen in-game that are funny, clever or interesting. I don't know, maybe is more people posted good things, it might slow down the number of disappointment posts.

I'd say the game is good enough to get people to feel like it's worth taking a stand on how they feel about its shortcomings. ;)

When they stop complaining and just stop logging in, they've given up. We're not there, thank goodness.

The game has lag-spikes. Between ISPs, server weirdness and everything in between, it can ruin a good dungeon run, yes. I could do with less nerfing and "re-balancing". But it doesn't take away that the Tamriel environment / game world is very, very good and there is a ton of content to experience if you don't rush your way through.

Hope springs eternal, I guess. :p

I won't say anyone is wrong or right. But for the sake of argument...

If an ability is over performing sometimes you should buff other abilities, other times you should nerf it. In World Of Warcraft, for instance, there was a time when the "Arcane Mage" build out-performed everyone, even the other "Frost Mage" and "Fire Mage" builds. Every mage played the Arcane Build, and anyone not a Mage complained that Mages were OP. What did Blizzard (the company behind the game) do? They decided to buff Frost and Fire to be on-par with Arcane, so that every Mage build was out-performing all the other classes, rather than just nerfing the out-of-line Arcane Mage.

But in the case of Petrify I don't know if it was right to nerf it, or if Stonefist should've gotten buffed instead.

This is something I don't understand people complaning about... If you don't feel like it's worth your money, just don't buy them? They're completely optional, and isn't some Buy-To-Win crap.

I think it is central to ESO's well-being to critique the developers when they change the game (or fail to change something).
But the negativity can be exhausting, so I vow to post 50/50 negativity and appreciation.

Change is fine when people actually want it... but alot of the changes that happen in this game simply aren't what people want.

Plus, imo with some of the more recent changes the game has become less fresh, and more stale. Combat is like 33% slower now, which short term doesn't seem bad - but the more you play, the more you get sick of fights dragging on due to gimped sustain.

I think it's because ESO was developed for core and hardcore gamers, but after a mediocre launch that failed to capture these audiences, the game was changed to instead appeal to casual and ultra-casual players. I don't use the term casual in a derogatory way.

I think most of the overt dissatisfaction comes from the core and hardcore gamers who have continued to play ESO. There's not a lot for these audiences to do because new content is limited and most of it is too easy to be enjoyable to experienced gamers.

We're also presently in the kind of lull period that usually occurs between major updates. When the next DLC is released, the game will be revitalized by returning players.

Morrowind changes killed this game. Game hasn't been nearly as fun since then. Before I could play for 10 hours straight on a Saturday and still want to keep going. Now after an hour of play time I just end up quitting the game or stalking new players on my horse until they get creeped out.

Well in the ESO live discussion i dont think stonefist was mentioned. What they said was after converting the disoriients into unblockable stuns (stonefist is blockable BTW) they found they were quite powerful and so they wanted to add counterplay/warning to the petrify. So they added the reduced range so that when you see the Dk rushing you you can (p)react to it.

The change was everything to do with petrify and how it performed after the first week(s) of the new capability.

But as one might expect the comparison between a ranged projectile blockable stun like stonefist and a similar but unblockable one and the need to adjust one may confuse some.

I am neither defending the change then or the change tomorrow just pointing out the conclusion drawn from brief patch notes about all the whys and why-nots in dev minds may not be totally reliable. i would suggest that perhaps tea leaves scattered over aardvark entrails and then a long pole vault may make for better, more accurate conclusion leaping.

Not that that will stop folks.

Because the developers are inept and spend their time and money on crown store items and producing content to make a buck. I don't blame them for this, but I don't know how anyone can look at the current state of PvP and say that is working as intended with a straight face.

Anyone who remembers the 1T reboot as a time of sunshine and rose petals forgets a lot of major complaint threads then about how horribly this ruined the games for quite a few, both before and after.

Seems every patch has doomed the game and ruined it and proved the devs know nothing... for a subset of players.

heading into playtest week 3 and the sun will again come up tomorrow.
