Do GM's deserve some love?

My whole game basically revolves around running a Guild. Once you go over 2-300 members it can get quite time consuming and to be a good one involves a lot of member interaction and keeping things going every day. I love it though and I wouldn't trade it for 1000 gear farm runs. What I would like to see though is some in game loving with something like achievements or special titles, as it is an integral part of the game and without Guilds the game wouldn't function and we'd all be playing something else. Do you think GM's deserve some respect from ZOS?

EDIT: Any titles etc of course should be limited to someone CURRENTLY the GM of a Guild, therefore it shouldn't be able to be abused by momentarily changing leadership.

I didn't buy and play the game for over 2 years JUST because Guilds were a thing.

Sorry to hear that! Guilds are a fantastic way to learn how to play the game and get experience running new dungeons with members who will be far more patient and understanding just because you ARE in the guild. Guilds are something which motivate people to be part of something else and although I suppose this isn't for everyone, I think you're missing out if you aren't in any.

Have never seen a game give guild leaders a title. I have also seen guild with 500 members, lol, that the leadership was lame, flat out poor while I have seen solid guild managers that kept the guild focused and on point and had a much smaller guild. I have also heard of selfish guild leaders.

As one that lead a guild for more than a year, lead raids and more, I do not see the need for a special title.

BTW, that guild that had 500 nembers which most having stopping playing long ago and the rest never doing anything with the guild still exists after 3+ years, but never has more than 12 in TS at a time and still lacks focus.

I couldn’t possibly care less either way. The only reason I’m even slightly interested in guilds is because they’re idiotically attached to this game’s crappy player-based trade system.

Guild Masters and officers deserve everyone's respect. Wheter this shoud translate to special titles and achievements, I'm not so sure. While I would not oppose it, I thought someone becomes a GM because they enjoy it?

And I disagree with your statement here:
without Guilds the game wouldn't function and we'd all be playing something else.
When I started ESO I did not even know what a guild was. I love some of the guilds I'm in, they make the game so much richer... but it would take more than "no guilds" to make me go play something else.

The way ZOS can show appreciation to me is not via titles or anything like that .... it is by delivering the quality of life improvements that the guild system needs so I spend less time on "admin" and more time running events and doing stuff that guilds are there for!

There are many threads on suggestions and please on this topic, the search button is your friend if you want to know more.

@Khenarthi I guess you will get a different view from different GM`s as to why they do it. I do it because I enjoy being around people and the feeling you get when something is achieved as a guild and you know you played a key role in that achievement far out weighs the low points.

The only appreciation I need beyond improvements to the guild system I get from the members. Opening your snug pod to the guild for example @Khenarthi and donating a DPS dummy for the guild home I know was you showing your appreciation and it is something many people have enjoyed and appreciated in return.

Any form of appreciation ZOS could provide would be meaningless to me as how could they tell anything meaningful? A meaningful event to me is when we help someone past a hurdle, that could be their first vet dungeon or perhaps their first trial and you can tell how pleased and confident they feel following the event.

If there were going to be any achievements related to guilds I would want them to be exactly that. Guilds could have achievements such as dungeon/trial clears which are carried out by a group full of guild members. A trader achievement when a guild holds a trader for the first time and the likes. Anything that could be considered a guild milestone.

Does feel like if there was some "guild activities" that could be done would be awesome (events that can support 13+ people.) would be great.
Actual Guild housing would be great also, something that can actually support more than 24 people (current limit is a joke).
Just giving GM more tools to get people interested, because at the moment youve got pvp (can be temperamental for anyone that plays outside of the states) trials for 12 people and 4 man dungeons. Nothing really 'social' as such

This all comes down to why you're a GM in the first place. OP you say you love it and wouldn't trade it for anything, so why cheapen it with some artificial achievements? Anyone can make a guild and boom! There you go.. achievement unlocked.

If you're only being a GM because you want some shiny title well.... that says a lot.
  • Khenarthi

@Titansteele I agree completely that ZOS should give GMs better tools, and recognition (and shiny things, eventually) are much more rewarding coming from the guild members who appreciate the efforts done on our behalf.

@Logicbomb00 for me, titles and achievements would be a bonus, but there are things which should be higher in the priority list. I'm not voting on your poll because of the way the post was worded, it implies that respect and love from ZOS equals personal gains to the GM (even silly ones like a title). For me at least, respect and love for what you guys do should be shown as those actions that make your lives easier and benefit the whole guild. Quality of life kind of things.

lmao, yeah, millions.....I may make gold, but I do not keep it...I dump a million a week into a trader so my guildies can make some gold...many times I raise the gold by raffling of psn cards and such, bought with real money....Being a gm is not a gold making venture in most cases, in some yes, but in general no

I'd rather they add useful guild tools (calendar, better bank permissions, built-in guildmail functionality, etc.) to guilds than any kind of arbitrary title or achievement.

I voted yes, we deserve more love, but in the shape of more useful tools to manage events and ranks, set a home as a guildhall with it's own tools and more permission options (like allowing members to edit their own notes).

The only people who care about us being guild masters are the guild members (I very rarely pay attention to other people's title).

Oh, this is about Guild Masters. I thought this was a potential Game Master appreciation thread.

In regards to the question? I feel the good, dedicated Guild Masters receive plenty of love and adoration from their satisfied and happy Guildmates and Officers. This is the case at least in the guilds I am happily a member of. You get out what you put in when it comes to commandeering a guild.

Besides that I seem to remember WoW attempting a "guild level" system and that shattered smaller communities, even tight-knit ones. So I am at best pensive of anything garnering guilds mechanically superior to others in the form of increased functionality that others might not ever see.

What I personally really love about the game is how you can be running around in PVE land or pvp and stumble upon something you have not seen before which is really nice. But I will say I miss that feeling of how the game was when I first started playing it and personality I wish they would stop coming out with new content and work on improving the things they have now and adding to them A LOT of space on this map zos

I think GM's can be very under appreciated for the work they do.

After leading a PvP Guild/Alliance for months I will say it was probably one of the most stressful and work intensive periods I've had in ESO. I would spend a lot of my time at work on our forums, WhatsApp or Skype trying to organise content and sort squabbles.

That said, it's also a very rewarding job to see your work come together and enjoy the happy comments from your members who had content that evening because of your work.

You choose to become a GM, with all the chores and perks that come with it. Why should anyone get extra stuff, just because they fullfill a role in the game? Its like saying healers and tanks need something extra too. I vote a harsh no! on this one.

    You have a title "GuildMaster."

Also in many cases, you probably have a very nice homestead outfitted with combat targets and possibly all manner of crafting.

You get numerous individuals to assist you with most anything when needed and a huge resource pool in the form of your guildies.

Not downplaying what it takes to run one, as it's certainly phenomenal, but it's also optional and comes with its own benefits already.
