Other players have pointed this out as well and said it's a bug, I'm not sure myself but I've never been able to quickly animation cancel a snipe myself. I don't think it's lag either cuz I never had this issue with other abilities like this before.
I understand hard hitting gankers but snipe isn't an insta cast ability.

There's just something wrong with the skill. It has a 1.1 second cast time but I die instantly in 1 second and have 5 snipes on my recap. I can't think of any other skill that does that. I've never had 5 hard cast frags or 5 dark flares before. Only snipe.

This only occurs from stealth. I have not ever had it happen from someone standing visible. It also seems to occur more often when you're traveling away from the snipes original location.

Unfortunately i don't agree with this if all a person likes to play is an acher then snipe is required. snipe isn't a move players use when they aren't good. it's the only attack bow users have that does any damage. and that's not much either if people are getting killed by snipe then It's because the player that died to it is a bad player. i'm known best on ps4 na for using snipe and stealth and get told i'm a bad player. when in reality snipe doesn't make me or anyone else using the skill a bad player. we just like to play as a acher just like ppl like to play healers tanks etc.

Unless of course you are talking about standing next to a siege or large battle, where health desync and lag is common and players die to BS all the time. Where even good players die to stuff they wouldn't normally because of lag.
You wouldn't know this though, not without using it. You wouldn't see yourself spending 3 seconds casting the same skill to see all of your stam and time wasted by a single dodge roll. To see a Sorc chuckle as he simply refreshes his shield and ignores you. To see a Templar heal through Snipe as it tickles him. If snipe was an effective tool you would see streamers using it.
Stam simply doesn't have the ranged toolkit magicka does, snipe is the only form of ranged burst for virtually all setups, much less pressure without using melee weapons. Snipe is completely ineffectual versus good opponents, it's only value is providing additional pressure while they are fighting someone else. As the skill of your opponent drops the effectiveness of snipe goes up.
