Q's about quests, sets, and upgrades

While leveling a alt in a different faction I came across a quest in Shadowfen that resulted in the Sailcutter Dagger which is part of the Swamp Raider set. I'm working on a poison themed DK on the side (yes, that's more than 1 alt, I'm a alt-o-holic) from another faction and it was the first time I've seen this set. I got pretty excited about the trait of the dagger and the set it belonged to so I hit the above site to look up where the set drops and how to acquire the pieces.

My issue though was, the quest gives me exactly the sort of dagger I was looking for. I'm already looking at farming that zone for who knows how long, cutting down the time needed by completing the quest would be a life quality improvement. Problem was, I realized for that DK I'd have to put that quest off till I was level 50 and at max CP for the quest reward to scale and that in turn, prompted to Google-fu the questions that follow. I found answers that were somewhat relevant but they were dating back to 2014/15 so I thought I'd post and ask for what the current state of the game is towards them.
  1. Can a quest line be repeated in the overworld? If so how does one do that?
  2. If you have a set composed of items of different levels, whats the largest gap in levels between items you'd allow to retain the set's bonus?
  3. Can items have their level upgraded via the crafter upgrade system? I.E. if I took a level 25 item and had my level 50 crafter upgrade it all the way to gold, does the item upgrade its level to match the crafter doing the upgrade?
  4. Altering traits being a option in the future I haven't found anything that says whether a crafter can upgrade the weapon of someone else, and if they do does that then render the item non-tradeable?

Sadly, from what I've read, transmuting crystals are non-tradeable, bankable, and are only an occasional reward for doing Vet PvE content; given the general testiness of people I've encountered attempting to do group finder dungeons on normal let alone Vet runs, this looks like a hard barrier to a semi-casual such as myself. On this I hate to say it, but my few times attempting group-finder content has seen that part of the community as rather toxic/hostile where even asking a question can result in a kicking. Do you think this is going to be one of those "optional" items in the crown store when Clockwork goes live?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read/answer.

    1. Not unless it's a repeatable, like WB daily quests/TG missions etc. So basically, no. You can do it on an alt though, and keep in mind your alt won't need to earn dem cp since cp are account wide.
    2. You will always retain the set bonus. But its value will vary. If the set's 5th bonus is a named buff or some utility like "all enemies within 5 m radius get knocked back" it'll stay the same, if it has a value in it the value will decrease accordingly - it'll be something in between your lowest and highest value. I'm tempted to say if you add all the values from the pieces' description(just make sure to take all the pieces off before doing so so they don't scale) and divide that by the number of pieces you'll get the final value but I haven't tested if it's as simple as that. I wouldn't recommend using gear of non max level if you're max level yourself though. Especially weapons. You absolutely want cp 160 gold weapons, they have like 300+ spell/wep damage over the purple version/cp 150 gold version(not even talking about lower).
    3. No. Item levels cannot be changed in any way...unfortunately.
    4. That's the system that's currently on the PTS - which I don't have so can't tell you much. But given what we know about crystals so far I'd think transmuting an item makes it bound to you, would be kind of weird to put all those restrictions in place otherwise.

Unfortunately it looks like your best bet is re-doing that quest on an alt. Or just buying it at a guildtrader (the link is for NA PC; if you're on console this might be a slight issue...). Well, or good old farming ;)

Far as random dungeons in general go, you can do them with a premade team, just select compatible roles and queue for a random. Can save a lot of frustrations in the harder ones ;) I'd recommend finding a friendly guild and doing them with those, they're really not that bad for the most part.

You can Abandon a Quest then add it later.

[*] If you have a set composed of items of different levels, whats the largest gap in levels between items you'd allow to retain the set's bonus?

Not sure. Perhaps one of the User Guides elsewhere in the Forums can answer that.

[*] Can items have their level upgraded via the crafter upgrade system? I.E. if I took a level 25 item and had my level 50 crafter upgrade it all the way to gold, does the item upgrade its level to match the crafter doing the upgrade?

    Yes, I think so.

[*] Altering traits being a option in the future I haven't found anything that says whether a crafter can upgrade the weapon of someone else, and if they do does that then render the item non-tradeable?

You cannot alter someone else's items. However you can trade non-bound sets between players, buy them in a Guild Bank or Guild Store, or use Chat or Mail to offer trades or ask to buy Set items.

LFG is still a Work In Progress (WIP). It's much easier to group with friendly, non-critical players for a group by joining a Player Guild that suits your play style and interests.

Sorry for the long delay, Life tapped me on the shoulder. Thanks for your replies, helped me significantly with planning my steps going forward.

    RE: Dungeons
I assumed most of my progression with dungeons would be with guild runs, just a little frustrated that when it comes to randoms people can get as testy as they do. Given that its a pug, one would assume more instead of less patience is embraced by those entering the ques, random strangers being thrown together rarely achieve goals smoothly so having lower expectations should be the norm.

Ah well, peoples on the interwebs be as they be. Thanks again for your answers and suggestions, they were appreciated and helped me become more informed.
