Tanks would queue to troll and get boring... unless they made is 'custom' game mode

As far as PvP goes the BGs are essentially arenas.

Ofc they are 4v4v4 though sometimes 2v4v3.

Bgs here are not even remotely close to what arenas are in the traditional sense made popular by WoW.

Actually no not really. An appropriate system in place would curb that type of approach. The general goal in small scale 3v3 pvp is simply death match, which means adequate damage present in a team is mandantory. There are 2 solutions here....

A ) You place hard timers on matches and you grant the win to the team that deals the most damage in the event of a time out. Due to tanks running around soaking up damage, teams with more than one non lethal damage sponge member is objectively a liability to said team. And no, all things considered, in cp pvp, a team of 2 dedicated damage dealers and a strong resilient healer is is not going to struggle against 2 tanky builds that do damage as well and have a healer.

B ) You create a debuff that builds up over the course of a match that gradually reduces the healing recieved by all players in the match. This easiy curbs any attempt at teams trying to troll 3v3 by coming in with try hard unkillable tank/healers. The debuff places pressure on eliminating players asap since the main line of defense is exclusively eating damage and healing through it. If they have no offensive presence then they have no hope of winning a match.

To combat this they could make damage count for points. Would eliminate tanks as they can't deal nearly as much damage as a well rounded build.

    Please
Could even make the option for this be exclusively open from 12pm-12am Saturday + Sunday.
24 hours availability over the weekend so it pushes the times that players have to q closer together. This does two things.
    1. Prevents win trading on off hours
    2. Increases the “population” by confining them to one time period.

Implement it as a real rank system where you earn points for your “team”
Maybe you register a guild/group name and players with that tabard can be swapped out if someone is unable to be on or has to get off.
Or like wow you need all players in the original group to affect the rank.

Do this 4x a month and after each new patch hits, the team with the best score is rewarded something title, Mount, arms pack, costume, dye.

Would be amazing. Based on everything I've ever seen out of ZOS it will never happen but amazing nonetheless.

I remember WoW devs regretting the decision to add arena into WoW. It made balancing obsurd since balancing around duals or 2v2's ruins other PVP aspects and PVE felt every little bit of it.

I would love it as long arenas were exclusively no-CP so you didn't come across so many unkillable troll builds.

Yeah, no CP would be the way to go for sure, just like in BGs.

I like the idea with casual matchmaking in mind, but as soon we consider competitive matchmaking I have PTSD flash-forwards into 3 zoo sorcs (more like 3v15?) or a pair of Sloads Healthblades being supported by a 40k HP Guardplar in reactive.. Nevermind a proper tank specced magdens.

Some defensive set mechanics scale way higher in relative power than offensive sets that most folks run, especially in small scale. Think Meridia's, Reactive, etc. Last I played, games like WoW didn't have variables like these sets and as such was easier to balance from a class v class perspective.

I think we'd need a big balance pass to support a game mode like that.

Running sweaty comps like that in equal numbered settings isn't fun for a lot of people. Upper end BGs can get that way as it is, but for the most part have that casual fun element.

I'd rather see them add group v group duels to allow for structured X v X combat (Which opens up the entire game map rather than needing new maps designed for 2/3/X combat)

Arenas would be fun. There could be ways to discourage tank builds via mechanics in the arena. It would be worth it for the pvp community to have arenas honestly.

Thats where dampening comes in, its like a healing debuff that increases potency with time, to prevent such playstyles.
