Random Normal Problem – Queuing Into A Recently Completed Instance

After the second time this happened, I sent in a report and was told to post my experience on the bug report forum.

Question Reference # 170917-002878
Platform/Megaserver: PC/NA
Character Name: Akaviria Carvain

My ticket: “My friend and I did Elden Hollow II as a random normal. We completed the dungeon and left it through the door, remaining in group with each other, though the others left. We then requeued for a Random Normal, and got Elden Hollow II...except that it was the same instance we'd just left, dead bosses, portals and all. So our other group members had nothing to kill, we all got the 15-minute queue penalty after leaving, and we didn't have a random normal to run. Why is the group finder treating our completed and exited dungeon like we needed backfilled members, and how can I avoid that happening in the future? I don't like inconveniencing other players by accidently queuing for a completed dungeon.”

As I said above, Elden Hollow II is actually the second time I’ve had this happen. The first time, my group of friends completed the pledge for Direfrost Keep. One friend dropped group, so the three of us decided to queue for a Random Normal. We got Direfrost Keep, which okay, its one of the day’s pledges. Except that it’s the same instance we just left. All the bosses are dead. The new player who’d queued with us was understandably irritated that he’d gotten stuck with a completed dungeon and the 15-minute penalty for nothing. We were confused and irritated, because we’d completed the dungeon and tried to queue for a Random Normal, not trying to backfill a missing player which Groupfinder apparently thought.

So, the problem I see is this: Twice, I’ve queued with a group member for a Random Normal after completing a dungeon. Yes, its complete, all bosses killed, group activity complete, took more than 15 minutes to complete, all that. Instead of being grouped for a new dungeon instance, the Group Finder has placed us back into the dungeon instance we just completed as if we had requested it to fill our group with the missing roles. That’s not what we want it to do. When that happens, the other players who got pulled into the old instance now have to take the 15-minute penalty for no good reason, because we certainly didn’t go back to the old instance intentionally. We also have to take the 15 minute penalty and deal with having accidently inconvenienced players who are understandably irritated.

I’ll finish by repeating my question: Why is the group finder treating our completed and exited dungeon like we needed backfilled members, and how can I avoid that happening in the future? I don't like inconveniencing other players by accidentally queuing for a completed dungeon.
