Breaking into NPC houses

Once I pick the locks and enter friendly NPC homes, I usually have to listen their comments of disapproval.

Like they were seeing me all the time, or being aware of my presence, which is silly since while I'm hiding they should mind their own bussiness.

Is it some bug? I have to kill them one by one to avoid being hailed as an unwanted guest every several seconds ;).

While entering I stay hidden and for all the time inside, I have the strongest sets for being undetected even if standing 1 meter in front of npc... still they can sniff me out from another room.

if you stay hidden and dont get noticed, your bounty doesnt go up
they may tell you to leave but eventually they return to their routine
pickpocket them quick and use BoW so they respawn for next player

i only use Khajiit n/b for these missions, practically undetected anywhere

All you wrote is true and it's equal to my game, but the issue is that even if you stay hidden and bounty doesn't go up, why are they aware of my presence. If they are aware they should sound the alarm/bounty should go up, but if they are not, they should restrain from sniffing me out every several seconds. It's just plain stupid for the game immersion to be noticed when you are hidden.

Just be glad your not actually trespassing like in Hews Bane. I am willing to accept the snarky responses when the NPCs are facing me. I just respond back with something like just removing the incentive for other's to steal from you. Or something like that. But if we were having to deal with the trespassing mechanic, I don't think I would ever go into an NPC home ever again.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The funnier part is if you stop sneaking they greet you as if you're outside and it's just the most pleasant day. They don't bat an eye at you being inside their home if you're not sneaking. Got to love incomplete AI.

I broke into a house this morning, and the only time the NPCs said anything to me was when they were facing me.

Kind of makes sense really, it's their house, they would be aware if something was out of place or extra.

Lol, you break in in a house with people.

    1. door opens
    2. people are looking at door
    3. you come in crouched
    4. people seeing you -.- means they don't see you.
    5. people go complain about you being there
    6. dude in other room hears mates complain and thinks i'm da boss i will get him out of here.

In so called real life if you hear something that might be someone breaking into your flat/house, you can hail "them", say a word or two ahead, but if silence responds you and you already searched entire place & found nothing, you know that you just misheard youself. Would you keep calling the silence every several seconds? You would be crazy ;).

Perhaps our experiences and observations differ because we play on different platforms or megaservers?

Ordinarily, my characters rarely use stealth, and do not "crouch" while picking a lock on a door to enter an NPC home or other building. However, when an NPC guard is nearby, in my experience, being "hidden" while picking the lock on the door reduces the chance that the guard will interrupt my character, and demand payment of a bounty.

Regardless, when my character does not remain hidden while entering a home (or other building), any NPC that is present usually protests my character's presence, and/or threatens my character -- especially when the NPC is facing my character. I just ignore them, read the lore book, and leave. (If my character began stealing items, then I don't know what would happen.)

The only time that my character has ever been attacked while "tresspassing" is in Hew's Bane. Although, I suspect that a tresspassing player character would be attacked in the The Gold Coast as well. Of course, usually the object of tresspassing in those zones is either to steal something, or to "assassinate" an NPC, or perhaps both. The NPC might not even say anything before, or during, the attack upon my player character.
