Hi guys, Im fairly new so this might be a dumb question but....
As I get higher in level Im farming different mats. What Im noticing is the value of the mats are going down. Iron and High Iron seem to be worth about the same but the price of Orichalcum drops by half. Is there any way to farm for lower level ores? So far its the only way Ive been able to make any gold.

The material you see will depend on the level of your character and the level of the first passive in a crafting skill line. So for Blacksmithing it's Metalworking.

You'll see crafting materials in a 50/50 mix 50% will be based on your character level and 50% will be based on that first passive level. So you could get to the point where you see 50% Rubedite (the max for now) and 50% Iron Ore.

    Hope that made sense.

The easiest way to farm low level mats is to make a new character and only put points into the crafting line(s) until you get to the mats you desire.

The real money isn't in the ores, it's in the tempers you get from refining them.

    Don't sell unrefined ore!

You also have to understand that ZOS took a Crafting System that had a vast range of Materials to use as your character's leveled and compeltely blew it apart.

Now the only use for intermediate levels of equipment are for the characters your leveling to L50/CP160. And, most people who are planning on making alts keep those leveling sets of gear so they don't have to make them again. So, to that end, people only want top end mats as most of their characters are top end.

A lot of us are hoping for the day when they divorce materials from levels and make it so the amount of materials you use determines the level of the gear you make. ZOS has made no promises or mentions to this, but I can't see them throwing out all the beautiful artwork that was created for the intermediate levels. Then they can spread around the mats or make them unique to a zone or two.

So, in the meantime, to farm a certain level of gear, build a character that can farm that level of gear.

But, a better item to farm to make gold are Alchemy Reagents, in particular the flowers. Most flowers command at least 60 gold each, and some as much 300 gold or more. Shop the guild kiosks on you platform for general pricing information. Generally speaking you can get 60,000 gold for a 200 stack of the more desirable flowers like Columbine or Mountain Flower etc as opposed to say, 2000 gold for a stack of refined Iron, forget what the Ores go for as I don't sell mine. But it's no where near as much as flowers.

Also, a quick and easy way to make gold in the game is Legerdemain. Lots of places that have low NPC counts and high container counts to find items to Fence or Launder and then Sell (recipes for the most part)
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
