Requirements for Master Writs to drop?

Okay so I have one crafter that does equipment and one that does consumables. My equipment crafter is behind, and while he has two of the three skills maxed with all passives bought up to full, he does not have every single trait unlocked on those two. Do I need to have all nine traits unlocked on every piece of equipment before I start getting master writs on that one?

My consumables crafter has Alchemy and Provisioning maxed, with all passives bought to full. He has a decent collection of Provisioning recipes, including a lot of blues and purples. He has every single alchemical ingredient fully researched, with all alchemical achievements unlocked. What else do I need to do to qualify for Master Writs on those two skills? I've been there for two weeks so far doing writs every day and I'm obviously still missing something. Or are they just really that rare and you can go weeks without getting any at all? I have yet to see one so I'm not familiar with the process, they are still kind of mysterious to me.

You must be doing the top level crafting writs to get a chance at a master writ.

The more traits you have researched, motifs known, recipes known, achievements, etc. help improve the drop rate, but the amount is unknown.

Do you mean all of them? Because I have been doing top tier crafting on two skills with each of these characters for a few weeks now. But if it requires all three to be top tier then I guess that's why I haven't seen any yet.

No, it is per craft. But I have gone weeks without one in a certain craft and then two in a row. It is all random.

Which two crafts are you doing top tier?

Blacksmithing and Woodworking on one toon, and Provisioner and Alchemy on the other.

Does anyone know if level factors into it? My crafter is only lvl 32, but at 8 traits with all the basic and a handful of rarer motifs, and seems to average about 50 vouchers worth of writs a week. Have always wondered if lower level and higher skill benefits or if its just luck? or is 50 a week about average?

It is only crafting levels (doing top Tier Writs) and knowledge (Traits and Motifs known) that count towards the chance to drop the Master Writs.

As for getting 50 Vouchers a week, that is better than I get.

You HAVE to do top tier writs in order to have a chance for a Master Writ to even drop. Crafting knowledge (traits, motifs, recipes, runes translated, ingredient properties, etc.) help to improve the chances of getting one, but we don't know how much it improves the RNG.

So, you have to do top tier writs to get Master Writs - any other tier, and they won't drop, period. But, to improve your chances of getting a Master Writ WHEN DOING TOP TIER WRITS, you need to improve your "knowledge" in the crafts for which you are doing top tier writs.

So, want to improve you chances of getting an enchanting master writ? Learn ALL runes. To improve your chances of a woodworking/clothing/blacksmithing MW? Research ALL traits on the particular craft and learn ALL motifs (they have to be full motifs learned, not just a few pages). Provisioning? Learn ALL purple recipes. Alchemy? Learn ALL ingredient properties.

That is exactly what I was looking for! Very helpful--for instance, I did not know about the need for *full* motifs rather than pieces of them, or that the provisioning recipes you know need to be purple. Thank you very much!

Yep recipes that help are purple and gold.

Alchemy you need to know all the differant combinations.

Enchanting you need to know all the combinations.
I am not certian if knowing then with kutas helps or not. Maybe someone can chime in on that.

The rest is traits and motifs. You need traits and motifs anyways one at least one character so you can actually do master writs. Well except for provisioning alchemy and enchanting.

look at your craft achievements. The more you have in a craft the better your rewards and chance in that craft.

Know that with update 18 they will add the past year of new motifs into that pool that counts for the improvement. Only fully completed motif styles count as that is how you get that style achievement .

The holiday recipes also count on the purple and gold ones, get those and do the food quest lines in Wrothgar and CWC for those recipes.
