Domihaus Monster set

So I have asked around regarding if this set was viable for pvp, I was told the set sucks and that it is not. I have yet to even see anyone post a YouTube video of them. Using it in a dungeon either. Any thoughts?

It's bad because it only hits enemies sitting on the circumference of the ring. In pve, that makes it mostly worthless. In pvp, completely worthless. On the other hand, the 1pc bonus is great and commonly used in pvp.

I see. damn that sucks I had high hopes for this monster set, but it seems like we got trash monster sets, and the new gear sets are ok.

I like the set and the dungeon it drops in; but practically speaking there are much better options for PvE or PvP.

Yeah, the one piece is awesome. I hope they buff the 2 piece. I'd love for the fire damage to be inside the circle (which is a mechanic from that dungeon boss too) even if they decrease the radius. Having the damage as the outer ring is useless. I was disappointed because I hoped this would be a good alternative to Grothdarr for my MagDK.

Personally, I love the 2 piece Domihaus set on my PVE dps magsorc and consider it BiS for most situations! I saw this thread on Domihaus and decided to take the opportunity to write a little 'review' of it. Note this is the perspective of a pve magsorc only, and imo there are plenty of better options for stam builds and pvp in general.

Whilst Grothdar outperforms Domihaus on a test dummy, it does so only by 2%. My average parse on a 3m target dummy with Grothdar is about 39k dps, and with Domihaus about 38k dps. In 'the real world' however, there are many boss mechanics that force you to attack at range (e.g. Domihaus, himself) or where ranged play is a safer and more reliable source of damage (e.g. Dranos), which mean that the Grothdar 2-piece is doing 0 dps for the majority of the time in those situations. Ilambris might work for some people or classes, but not for me personally as I use lightning/lightning. I also find the 1-piece health bonus from Maw of the Infernal and Valkyn Skoria gives a significant dps loss, so are not viable for me.

After a bit of practice with Domihaus, you will learn the range you need to keep in order to position the boss over the fire ring when the set procs. On a parse of 38k dps the ring of fire will usually provide about 2% of the dps, whereas the Grothdar aoe will provide about 4%. Now take into account that standing within the Domihaus ring provides 200 spell damage, and the difference between these sets becomes negligible in terms of single-target damage output. Then take into consideration the fact that Domihaus is giving you 1096 more stamina for blocking, dodging and bashing, and is strengthening your wards when procced- its sheer utility is what finally wins for me.

My verdict: for 'tank and spank' situations, or for wading into a hoard of ads, choose Grothdar. But for the majority of 'real world' situations that require a mix of range, mobility, warding and stam usage, go for Domihaus.

Its really not bad in pve its HORRIBLE in pvp anybody can simply just walk out of cirlce.

As for the 1pc its great for pvp since in pvp max resources are very important.

I like the set in pve it has really good proc rate and not only does decent dmg but increases spell dmg or weapon dmg so every now and then you getting nice buff + proc dmg .

I would use this set on mag dk or stam dk pve but i still think skoria is better for dps. Maybe not by a lot though

I wont consider myself a PVP expert, but I can hold my own. I mostly play a mag sorc or magic DK. I have found on my sorc that the best thing I can do is try to maximize my stats. That is perhaps a sorcs greatest advantage after all. They dont have a lot of gimmics, but they have big stats and hit hard. I dont need the burst from monster sets to get kills, as I have more than enough. Since you spend half your rotation shield stacking, i want my burst 100% under my own control anyway.

I used to rock pirate skeleton, but I have found that it procs less and less as a I have become better with my shields. The one piece is also a waste when shields are up (even though it is very strong). If you want to run two 5-piece and a 1 piece monster on a sorc, it's hard to beat Domihaus. With a few tri stat glyphs, I can get to 15k stamina while running witchmothers, which is pretty amazing. After a few hours of playing with it, I have decided it's time to grind the helm in the perfect trait. 5 Shacklebreaker, 5 Amber plasm, and 1 Domihaus with witchmothers gives you some pretty amazing stats. I was sitting at approximately 23k health, 40k magic, 15k stam, 3k spell damage, 3k magic regen and 1500 stam regen when buffed. I dont have the exact numbers in front of me, but it was not too shabby.

In PvP does the ring follow the wearer, or is it static?

The set is quite strong with arguably one of the most powerful 1 piece bonuses (surprise - it drops in a paid for DLC, so you know it's likely designed to be strong... for now).

Additionally the radius of the AOE that some people have said was "useless," is absolutely huge. If you don't have the set, can't find a video of it and want to see it in action, just check it out on the PTS.

I suspect that many of the people who have claimed that this AOE is useless don't even have the set.

It only does damage on the outer ring. The issue isn't the size, its that the damage isn't great unless the targets are on the outer ring. The fact that it doesn't move with the wearer can also be an issue as proc's can be positioned where you not only aren't getting the damage but you have to move from the inside and thus lose the weapon/spell buff. It's okay, not great though and not really all that desirable outside of the 1 piece.

Seriously? Only the outer circle causes damage? Never realized that before. Thats why it is bad....

the two skelotons in the ring dont get damage (yellow health bar). On the ring they get damage. The one in the middle with red health bar get hits to proc it...

The 2nd piece is just not good. Not easy to place the ring correct and hit enemies. And when you have to move you have to move out (rakkhat jump to next plattform, hof endboss walk in the middle etc...)
And also when you dont have to move (and can stand 100% in it) its just ~135 spelldamage because of the cooldown. Thats like 1pc bonus of a monsterset with spell/weapon damage

I use 1 piece of that set on my pvp character. Combined with shacklebreaker it gives me a good amount of resources.

Well I have been using this on my MagDk and I have to say, it actually is a very useful monster set, I just dropped a standard in the middle so regardless if you're in the inside or outside your taking damage.
