When I first started playing in early 2016, I saw a group of about 5 guys taking out NPCs and guards. It was funny as hell. Dead NPCs laying everywhere.

Theosis✭✭✭✭Was with a group of 12 and we got a guard down to about 80%... bad idea
At around 80% members of your group will start exploding if they have aggro. And I don't mean the guard will melee you... I mean if he looks at you, you will explode and die, no matter how far away from him you are.
It was pretty brutal lol.

They can't be damagedi think they used to be able to take damage, now they just have a solid yellow/gold bar with no health value
move along - nothing to see hear - go ahead & attack that guard & get your gold master weapon!
When did they change that? We did the guard attempt about four months ago.. it was after morrowind.
no idea when they changed it, but i saw someone (possibly the OP) trying to kill one in vulkhel guard 3 days ago and noticed the big old gold bar with no health figures (yes im running numbers im curious hom much damage i can do with my NA non CP babies)0 -
