What is BIS gear for DPS PVE MAGblade (trial gear excluded)? HoTR update

This one was wondering, which sets to farm or craft for the HoTR update, which ones are best, except for trial gear (casual player, not possible to do trials).

This one is a MAGBLADE DPS, usually running either destro+resto setup, or now trying out also destro (fire)+destro (lightning) setup?

Julianos+......?

Willpower?

Monster sets?


This one is thankful for any advices from more experienced adventurers.

no idea, this one was used to use destro+resto, so that she could heal herself better.

Now she changed her build and uses two destro staves and healing path and sap essence, it works well too

dont have magblades have nice self heals with grim focus and something else, sorry i dont play nightblades at all and no idea if its used in dps parses.

anyways, if you have good healers, you dont have to worry about heals, most important thing is to learn mechanics so you take minimal damage and not get one shot

You don't need resto staff, refreshing path or sap essence to heal yourself when your main spammable skill heals you enough... Just shield yourself if you have a lot of incoming damage.

It's funny because my magblade is actually running the exact sets you mentioned (5 x Julianos + 3 x Willpower + 2 x Grothdarr + 1 x vMA staff).

This isn't an optimal or BiS set up, though.

You could do a Julianos+Scathing Mage+1 Iceheart. Would be pretty solid. You could keep an Undaunted bonus then. I've been using BSW+Willpower+Valkyn Skoria. My magblade isn't my main though so I just like to have fun with him. It's pretty damn powerful though.

Don't think Scathing Mage works so well anymore since the change to Twisted Path.

BSW also got nerfed so it's really only worth running on DKs.

Scathing isn't bad if you swap funnel health for crushing shock/force pulse; depends on if you can sustain it.

My magblade isn't my main and I don't do serious theory crafting but I am getting good results with 5 juli 5 scathing mage 1 iceheart.
There is probably a better set combo out there but this can net you 30k+dps which is good enough for everything but the top 1% vet timed trial chasers.
Hopefully a theory crafter jumps in here to provide you with more data.

Probably 5 Mothers Sorrow, 5 Julliano, 1 Ice heart or Kena. All divines with spell damage mundus. Fire staff from bar and shock staff back bar (for AoE). Heals come from Funnel Health (or swallow soul) and siphoning attacks when weaving light attacks.

Duel VMA destro (or crafted front bar staff), Julianos, IA/MS/etc. You really can't go wrong. I get pretty much the same DPS whether I'm using Nirnhoned/Infused staves. I'm not sure if I like apprentice mundus just yet. I would like to try the spell pen mundus since sharpened was gutted. There is a lot of options to choose from for PvE. I am still using Julianos/IA with VMA staves and make 35k+ DPS, and I suck at rotations. The days of 55k+ DPS are gone it seems, but I'm sure we can get back there soon.

You said excluding trial sets. I did one vet pug AA and got a full set of infal aether (with trade from people who didnt want it) i cluding 3 purple jewellery and 2 divines body. This with julianos and a single iceheart/domi/kena monster piece seems to work quite nicely and alcast has a build with the same sets on his website if you want to check it out.

Until you get the additional set then im sure 5x juli, 3x willpower, 2x grothdar (or 1 kena and 1 iceheart) with random infused/nirn fire/lightning staves would be fine.

I agree, getting IA can be extremely easy since most veteran players already have everything they need. I literally decon/trash anything people don't need. I cannot tell you how much of that gear a new player would have received if there was one in group. Even normal trials the gear grind is probably a bit easier for most things. I can't stand gear that isn't legendary so I would have to get golden jewelry. You can also make quite a bit of money in trials if you find the right piece. I've had someone pay me 500k for something and 150k just last week.

you probably did not read the topic well, this one wrote, excluding trial gear, so Infalible Aether is not possible to get for this one, because causal...

I would also support this setup for Mageblade on non-trials gear. You could also go spinners, but I think you would get higher damage in most PvE situations with Mother's Sorrow.

interesting, this one thought that trials are very hard and only for hard core players.....maybe this one would try it out one day....


but this one dies many times in many veteran dungeons, so if trials are much harder than that...then it would not be possible for khajiit to go there.....

There isn't anything non casual about normal trials imo. AA is short--maybe 25-30 minutes if everyone has ran through it before and is familiar with the mechanics, easier than some dungeons, and people run pug groups all the time. So don't write off trials just because you are a casual player!

I was only giving advice with the gear I have used. Obviously I can't speak for something I am unfamiliar with. That being said, trials are not as difficult as most think. VMoL and VHoF are..lol. The rest of the veteran trials are pretty easy. If you have the gear and the CP to be part of a core group I strongly suggest giving it a go. Tons of fun, a lot more than people give it credit for. Most veteran players have all the gear they "need" so you can very quickly acquire trials gear in decent traits.

yes, this one saw his post about that build, he was first using 5 Julianos+5 Mother`s Sorrow + 1 Iceheart, but then after the patch went from PTS to Life, with the changes, he switched Mother`s Sorrow for Infallible Aether set
