Just-for-fun 'different' MagSorc?

So I already have a pretty maxed pet magsorc, and I've already done the standard DPS rotation with mage's wrath/shards etc. But I've come into the possession of another cp160 altmer magsorc, and I was thinking to do something "fun" with him.

Whenever I roll magsorc I seem to fall back into the same archetypes because they overwhelmingly are the most powerful options for that character. But I play mainly with friends who all together don't mind if people aren't meta.

Does anybody have any ideas for an interesting "unique" magsorc that doesn't use the conventional wisdom? I was considering doing something with mages guild' skills and fire destruction staff, avoiding both pet build and the typical boundless storm/mages's wrath/crystal shards routine. Are there any unique or interesting gear sets or move setups for sorc that might not be BIS but have caught your eye lately?

    PvP or PvE?

In PvE there is never any reason to run anything besides the meta because no matter what you come up with, the meta will always be better.

PvP is completely different and because you are playing against real people instead of just mobs etc, there is much more room for customizing your build or trying to think up something creative. At that matters is that it works for your play style.

So I'd say in sum, in PvP, absolutely have at it, but there is no real reason to deviate from the meta in PvE.

I don't think mine is all that odd but she does have a few quirks.

Bosmer magsorc focused on solo work and somewhat specialized as a WB killer.

    Twin lightning staves, JulianosX5, Necrox5, 7 light.

Bar 1: Lighting Flood, Blockade, Empowered Ward, Clannfear, Matriarch. Destro Ult.

Bar 2: Power Surge, EleDrain, Crystal Blast, Clannfear, Matriarch. Soul Magic Ult.

I prefer the bigger radius on Lightning Flood. I cannot be bothered with screwing up my rotation to deal with Frags and like the AoE of Blast.

My focus is on getting my clannfear into the boss' face, then he needs plenty of shielding and matriarch healing to keep him up. My damage comes mostly from the two AoEs and heavy attacks (which also keep my magicka topped up).

Not optimal, but she is solid and I like the idea of running with my own dps (sorc), healer (matriarch) and tank (clannfear). :)

Now I am just casually leveling this mag sorc on the side, so he isnt optimized or competitive, but he is pretty fun.

Hes what i think of as a "black ice" controller. Built more for theme than anything else.

Ice staff- destructive clench-unstable wall of elements-crystal fragments-shattering prison-matriarch (anythinf works really)-healing morph of negate magic.
Basically he just immobolizes everything, and keeps enemies locked down, blowing them up with crystal frags when they proc. Wall of elements and shattering prison explode periodically to deal damage too.

Its really not good for anything but solo play, but it is enjoyable.
