The downside to only 1 month of subs is that you may get addicted to craft bag and bank space available to eso+ members1 -

Compared to PvE, our PvP crowd gets scraps. It's not even new content, just a couple of reskins and increased drop rates. Meanwhile you get a whole continent to PvE in, a new trial, 2 new dungeons, upcoming Halloween event... quit your bellyaching.4 -

In case you didn't know, you can get around the auto-renewal. You pay for one month of sub, then five minutes later go to your account page and cancel it. (Online account or steam, don't know where to look on consoles.) The sub is nonrefundable so you get all the benefits for the month, but don't need to worry about it auto-renewing.
That's how I usually handle it, anyway, just with the three month subscription instead.

You've just described why mixing PvP and PvE is toxic and horrible. It's IC's fundamental flaw and it's irredeemable. Having said that, this event does not seem onerous (for a change), in that there don't seem to be event achievements that rely on people being forced to play game modes they loathe. IOW, it looks like it's avoidable.

Lots of people are incapable of seeing anything from anyone's point of view but their own. Likewise, many people are incapable of being happy unless everything benefits themselves. This is acutely more common in videogame communities as every snowflake is constantly made to feel like the hero of the story.
Some non-PvP people see this event and sit on the floor kicking/screaming that ZOS isn't giving them the constant attention they demand. Other, more congenial, non-PvP players see this event and consider trying out PvP, or just continue with other goals until it's over.
(In case I wasn't being clear, I was implying that lots of crybabies play this game and it's a waste of time trying to reason with them.)

✭IC has always been impressive in both graphics quality and mood. The sewers are eerie to extreme, with PVP action it really adds almost a horror-like experience.
