Hi, I have just about hit CP160 for first time ever, with my DPS magsorc and am starting to think about gear sets, but am a bit lost with the millions of guides. Any tips where to farm a passable set. I have been trying to keep my trait research going while I have been levelling but am not hugely confident in crafting yet - only have provisioning at 50 woodwork and clothing about level 40 with a sprinkling of passives. I just want somthing mainly for pve but also passsble for dabbling in pvp. Should I focus on farming overland sets (read good things about spinners set or elegance) or should I think about crafting? I keep reading about Julianos (sorry for spelling) but don't know if my crafting up to it yet!!

Any advice for a first time CP160 will be hugely welcome, I have all DLC but only completed thieves so far, about to venture to Worthgar before doing Caldwell silver.

First off, to make any crafted gear at CP160, you will have to get those crafts up to 50. Decon everything you don't need, and that will help you level the craft. Also, you will need to keep your trait research up 24/7. If you are a PVE DPS character, you will want to make sure you have divines researched on your armour pieces first, and infus/nirn/precise on weapons. (not sure what the new meta is for weapons, but I think those might be the top 3 now) For PVP, you will want Impen for armour I think (not sure, I don't PVP). Researching traits takes FOREVER. Spend skill points in the craft lines on the skills that allow you to research more than one trait at a time so you can speed this up. Also, begin farming mats now so that you will have tempers and/or runes later. Once you reach 50 in woodworking, clothing, blacksmithing, or enchanting, you will want to max out your points in the skill that allows you to craft with max level mats. This will allow you to start harvesting the max level mats you will need to make your gear and enchants. Be fore warned, maxing out enchanting takes a long time, but at least you don't have to research anything. I have found that running dolmens (as much as I HATE that) gives a decent amount of glyphs to decon. There are probably some guides out there for crafting, so do a search and see what you can find to get a bit more help.

As for gear, I usually follow Alcast's builds, and for a pet magsorc, it's currently Necro and Julianos. Julianos is crafted and requires 6 traits researched for each piece you want to make (4 armour and 2 weapons). Necro is found in Rivenspire in the following locations:

    Belt/shoes: Delve bosses
    Head/chest/legs/weapon: World bosses
    Shoulder/hands/weapon: Public dungeons
Jewelry: Dolmens (have also seen the daedra "mini events" drop jewelry, and they may drop other pieces as well)
Chests can contain any set piece

For necro, you will want 3x jewelry and 2 armour, so you can farm dolmens for jewely and glyphs for decon at the same time. :)

For non pet magsorc, its Netch's Touch, dropped in Darkshade Caverns 1 and 2, and Julianos.

The link to his page is here: https://alcasthq.com/

EDIT: I forgot to add that Necro pieces can be bought from guild stores if you have the gold. You can also find Julianos on guild traders too, or pay a crafter/get a friend to make it for you. If you are on PC NA I will make all of the Julianos for free (purple quality), with the exception of the nirn weapon. However, I will craft that for you for free if you have the nirn stone. My ingame name is @Raelin, so feel free to send me an in game mail.

You are welcome. :) I also forgot to mention that the builds I listed are for PVE. I would imagine PVP sets would be different, but I wouldn't know what to tell you about that. Maybe someone will post about what would be good for a magsorc in PVP.

Julianos is a great set - not just it can easily be crafted in any trait and style you want, but it's actually useful in both PvE and PvP. For PvE, couple it with another full or partial(if using a monster 2 piece) damage set, for PvP, with full sustain set(depending on nature of the set, you may be able to backbar it, such as Lich for example - get Lich staff on backbar, swap, proc Lich, swap back to Julianos, enjoy Lich magicka regeneration without missing out on monster set. I do believe they changed Lich to require a skill to be used on bar with Lich before it procs though, which makes it a little less convenient). Amberplasm(drops in RoM dungeon) and Shacklebreaker(craftable) are also great sets for PvP - they're a bit hybrid but you want that stamina in PvP lands.

non pet, 5 netch, 5 julianos and 1 monster piece. infused julianos lightning staff front bar shock enchant, maelstrom lightning infused. you can also substitute netch for infall aether

pet build, 5 necro, 2 ilambris, 4 moondancer. infused moondancer lightning staff front bar, infused maelstrom lightning staff back bar.

since you just hit 160, i doubt u have moondancer staves or maelstrom staves or any trial armor pieces, you can sub vma staves for julianos
