City of Ash ... cannot enter final boss room

When I go to enter the final room, I am told "You cannot open this door right now."

I am not in combat. I completed the first stage of the quest to kill the two bosses. This is the second time of my two attempts in this dungeon and I have the same issue.

I am on veteran mode and am doing it solo.

Any ideas?

Double check you are doing Vet, I've found the final room ( The Boss you get the helms for ) dont open on Normal

Have you killed The Infernal Guardian, The Warden of the Shrine, Dark Ember (or whatever it's called. The Flame Atronach.) and Rothariel Flameheart?

Assuming it's COA1, because 2 doesn't have any door right before the final boss.

Have you killed all of the bosses (I think there are 5) before the final boss? Iirc there is the infernal guardian, scamp master, some guy that uses gap closers, dark ember, two handed lady right before the final boss door.

The only boss I didn't kill is the Scamp guy. Isn't needed for any quests and I don't care for the loot.

Guess I will go kill him if this problem hasn't surfaced before

Gotta kill all of the bosses 1st. When you enter go left and kill that 1 boss. Then go right and kill 2 i believe, jump down and kill the one in the middle and another one up the steps and boom there you go.

He drops BSW rings and is super easy.

Yeah that did it.

Kind of lame, but at anyone else who does the same now will have an answer ready.
