Ignore List

I rarely go to the extent of adding people to my ignore list, but there are times that call for it. but mine also is full...
When I play i like to watch zone chat for group events like zone bosses or n-trials, I have no desire to read a 3 hour discussion on irl politics or abuse slinging matches between fools. And also there are of course some people who are downright rude & nasty & unrelenting in their hate for some reason. I would love to have a larger ignore list.

My ignore also contains a lot of players but they are usually spammers of the nation I just don't like to see in chat.
So yes, yes to extend the ignore list (though I don't think it's possible).

See this is probably the reason I don't have many people on my ignore list - I have had /zone chat turned off since about 5 minutes after launch. It prevents me seeing it all without me having to use the ignore list :D

I've never ignored/muted/blocked/reported a single person, Xbox NA and all I do is PVP, 2 1/2+ years playing.

    Maybe you're the problem....

Wow.. I love it when someone always points the finger back at the person that's having issues with others. Good for you for never ignored/muted/blocked/reported a single person in your 2 and half years of gameplay. Superman, it seems. However, I'm not sure what kind of person that can tolerate toxicity or tolerate others' racist, derogatory and harassing remarks/comments on others that are happening lots on zone chats (and, although, not as often, but still do occur on guild chats; usually that dumb arse gets kicked.) There will always be bantering, chest thumping, and even escalated debate or battle of wits at time on zone chat, but when someone is calling others derogatory term on blacks or African-Americans, demeaning reference term(s) on gays, lesbians and Jews, or other hateful remarks; oh yeah, would be such a good citizen to tolerate that. I have blocked many people, but I don't block peeps just because they are vulgar, just cursing, or being stupid. It can be annoying, but people will be people. However, all my blocks have been those that spurt hateful, vile and derogatory remarks, and sorry dude, I am not the problem. I have to also say shame on those that tolerate that or turns a blind eye.

You kinda just pointed out the issue is you. Not that it is unwarranted or bad, but the issue is you cannot handle what they are saying. You might be surprised to find out most of what bugs you is called trolling. Real bigots are few and far between (especially in gaming communities)

I've only blocked the idiots in pvp who find it necessary to tell me to kms while in offline mode, and I'm finding myself needing more ignore space as well |:

afsgdjfkf how do I enter this alternate reality where the gaming community isn't full of bigots whining about the ~evil SJWs and how dare companies have like.... female/lgbt/non white protags or characters? Like. Seriously.

And considering the trolls think spewing hateful *** to upset others is funny they're... pretty much bigots as well, just more lowkey about it in some aspects, so no reason not to throw em on ignore too lol

I love how people always take someone actually using the ignore function so personally :D

I emptied mine out recently cause it has been full for ages and there's no way to tell if the people on it have even been on lately but a higher limit still wouldn't hurt. I have to put up enough with people that irritate me in some way or other irl, I don't see why I should have to in game and I don't care if someone decides to put me on ignore either.

Well if i use it, then it's cause someone is a rly toxic player (looting chests in trials when others are in fight) and such ppl with absolutley zero respect for other players.

Why should we not ignore them since they are the ones letting us have less fun in the game?

Yep and I am the same. I put people on ignore who do nasty/stupid things after I've asked repeatedly that they don't. Bye Felicia.

No. The only way to have a value judgement of someone's personality Online is to go by what they choose to type/say. There is no "but in their heart they're good people, it's just jokes" when it comes to how one presents oneself in an anonymous setting. Ones quality of character extends to how one acts even in the dark/anonymity. There are an infinite number of jokes and witty comments to be made without resulting to bigotry.

The last few days I have seen a lot of hate, mostly political.
With this conversation creeping into fantasy land ignore lists will get full quick.
Is there a way ESO can crack down on this. There really should not be any real world religious or political conversations in chat. Am I offended, no, but it ruins the game experience reminding me there is so much hate in the real world I have to go back to.
And for all who argue freedom of speech, this is not our world, we are just playing in it.
