DoT scaling after weapon swapping

Does anyone know/understand what happens when you cast a lasting skill on one bar then swap to another? Does the skill still scale with the weapon it was cast with - or does it scale with your new active weapon? Someone told me a (very weird by common sense) thing today, I tried to test, and it seems for Liquid Lightning it stays affected by the weapon it was cast with, same for Destructive Clench, but Wall of Elements scales with the active weapon. Daedric Curse scales with some mysterious stat because the value of the first Haunting Curse explosion I was getting after bar swapping I couldn't reproduce on either bar on their own(was something in between), whereas the second explosion seemed to scale with active weapon. I tested it by using identical non-set weapons on both bars, one of which was Sharpened, the other had no trait.

All of these skills seem to scale with active weapon's damage(tested by using otherwise identical white and purple staves) however, which is even more baffling.

So...how the heck does it actually work? Is it just a random jumble of random skills scaling with random things where the only way to know is to test individually? Because I'm failing to see any reason for it working the way it is ._.

Last time I tested, blockade was one of very few dots that changed to current bar trait on swap. Most stick with the value from bar cast, so that's the flimsy rule to apply when theorycrafting if you don't want to test every skill. There doesn't seem to be any correlation between skills that do or don't, so it must just be an aberattion from how they were programmed. Worse, this seems to only be for sharp vs non sharp, with others reporting that other traits act in their own ways. And for whatever reason, this doesn't apply to the Ancient Knowledge passive, which is based on current bar without fail.
