Most experienced players can capably fill more than one role as the situation requires, and I can't advocate for preventing queuing for all roles you can do, just because some people abuse it. On my stamplar I can tank or dps, with a single button to change my gear and loadout. On my healer I can heal or dps just as easily. Both have lower dps than my pure dps toons, but as good or more than most pugs.

If you have a fake tank or healer, vote to kick and be honest and clear about why. If they run into player enforced consequences enough, they'll modify their behavior.

Also, no one has an area taunt. It doesn't exist in this game.

I think its okay if u have many cps, and in normal dungeon. sometimes with my magsorc i use inner fire and keep spamming shields, works wonders
It works wonders until you find a healer who queued up as a healer. The day you find a DD who queued up as everything and joined the group as healer, you will probably think different and leave the group.

    New poll option:

    Don't queue as multiple roles.

I know all the forum people are great at all roles. This is not true when forming Vet groups in the finder.

    Normal doesn't really matter.

There is significant improvement in the quality of a dungeon run when a tank is an actual tank, the Healer is an actual Healer and the dps'ers are pure dps'ers.

Vs hybrids who half ass their multiple roles.

The former are usually the groups I want to chain run dungeons with. The latter are the groups I might be able to complete a dungeon with, but there might be a few deaths and maybe one or two cuss words uttered under my breath.

    Something should be done ?

(clarification no one wants someone queuing as a tank and DPS or healer and a DPS etc etc it messes with the group. If you queue as a tank make sure you have some kind of area taunt excetera excetera for each class. )

    What is an area taunt?

    my b.a.ll.z

That's weird... so you want the tank to have your balls!?

There's nothing wrong with queueing for several roles long as you can actually do both/all of them. Yeah there're people who can't and just want faster queue times and it sucks, but then there're also people who legitimately queue for one role and are simply incapable of doing it so "queueing for 2 roles=bad, queueing for 1=good" argument is moot.

I'm conflicted on this topic. If you can do the job that's awesome, congrats, keep up the good work. I will be your pocket healer, let's go!

But when you sign up to "tank" and don't have a taunt or die whenever the boss looks your way, it's a problem. Especially if the group dps can't make up for the lack of tank. Do you know how hard it is to heal when everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off? Or how hard it is to dps when the boss is constantly being led out of all your ground aoes.

Normal dungeons can be soloed or duo-ed, all vet non-DLC ones can be done with 3 DDs + tank or 4 DDs, and only the vet DLC ones do require all 3 roles, so people complaining that someone queued as a role he can't fulfill are partly covering for their own lack of skill at the game.

Yes, you can obvious DD if your an healer, just swap bar and gear.
Problem is that you don't get inn much faster than if you queue as healer only.
How often did you get in as DD?
I guess you pretty much always get healer on first attempt to form group. You might be queued as DD on later tries.

    So much this.

And lets face it, if you queue for tank/dps you will be pulled in as tank most of time, and as healer when queuing for healer/dps. Queueing for both really serves very little purpose, you know which is needed more.

Anyone can do any role. But easy dungeons are easiest when it is four people set up to do their jobs.

A whole lot of people who reckon they can do x or y role are actually making an easy run an irritation for someone else who sighs and semi carries them. The "tank" types are especially oblivious it seems to how much time is wasted by having to constant heal rather than burn down things on account of them.

There is nothing wrong with queueing as more than one role. For instance, I carry a DPS set as well as a healing set on my warden. Now personally I don't spec as DPS, but I could and I would still be competitive with the other DPS. In all honesty even in my healing gear I tend to pull more DPS in pug vet dungeons than the DPS do.

As to tanks having an area taunt, it doesn't exist. A tank grabs the largest of the trash mobs, the boss, and if time allows chains in the other adds as they can. It's the DPSes job to burn the small trash down before it hurts.

I also have a friend who is a tank, but can flip his character quite easily between dps and tank just with a quick gear switch and skill set switch (addons are great for this)

Any experienced magicka DPS can double as a healer in normal dungeons with a resto staff and a couple or 3 healing skills. If they know what they're doing, have a taunt (frost staff heavy and/or Inner Fire) and some shield spell they can also tank.

Stamina builds can tank or DPS but they generally suck at healing although a Warden can get away with stam healing as long as they slot the healing ultimate which is up almost constantly.

Tanking or healing really well is a different story and you should have group support skills, area roots as a tank, etc. but you don't really need that in normal dungeons.
