Tips for farming weapons

I am currently farming Spinner's Garment's Set but unsure whether I should grind delves, public dungeons, overland bosses or look for chests

Any ideas? To be precise, I am looking for One Handed Swords

    Agree.
I tried to farm a weapon once.

Then I discovered what a disheartening, demoralizing, and depressing experience farming weapons in this game is. Not only do you have to try to get the right item to drop out of all of the possible equippable items, but it also has to be of the right set from the multiple different sets that drop in the zone, plus on top of that you have to get the right trait.

It is literally RNG on top of RNG with a sprinkle of RNG served with RNG on the side.

It would be faster to farm the gold to buy the items from the guild store than it takes for it to drop.

There's a spot in Malabal at Jagged Coast world boss, nearby there's a dolmen. Whenever the dolmen goes down the world boss is always up. Go to broken coast dolmen and Jagged Coast boss to farm, it's a lot quicker.

If you can't be bothered with the guild stores, @Chelister, the public dungeon in Malabal Tor is the next best bet ... followed by chests after that (same zone; Malabal Tor).

If you're a PvPer you can buy the regional Malabal Tor sack from the vendor in your home base. The sacks only cost 5k AP each, which takes no time to farm.

The RNG is the same of course but it is less boring and time consuming than running around finding chests and blitzing the same public dungeon 78 times a day.

    Good hunting!

If you want weapons, stay out of delves. Weapons don't drop in delves unless they are unique drops, which unfortunately are pretty crappy for the spinner's set and no swords among them either.
    Spoiler
Delve bosses have a chance to drop a waist or feet set piece from the zone they are located in.
Each boss also has a small chance to drop a unique set piece.
Overland group bosses have a 100% chance to drop head, chest, legs, or weapon set piece from the zone they are located in.
Public dungeon bosses have a chance to drop a shoulder, hand, or weapon set piece from the zone they are located in.
Treasure Chests gained from defeating a Dark Anchor have a 100% chance to drop a ring or amulet set piece from the zone they are located in.
Treasure chests found in the world have a chance to grant any set piece that can drop in that zone:
Simple chests have a slight chance of dropping an item set piece.
Intermediate chests have a good chance of dropping an item set piece
Advanced and Master chests have a guaranteed chance of dropping an item set piece.
If you have the Treasure Hunter Champion Passive, both the above chances and quality of an item will be improved.
Treasure chests found from a Treasure Map have a guaranteed chance to drop one random set piece that can drop in that zone.
Major quests have been updated to reward a green or blue-quality set piece.
Regular monsters throughout Tamriel have a small chance of dropping any item set piece that can drop in that zone.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

If ur after a certain trait on the weps it's always faster to farm gold then the wep.

Farming delves/public dungeons you could spend months trying to get that wep in the perfect trait and kind like 1 handed swords. But in a week or 2 of farming mats or AP you could just buy it and it's 100% guaranteed.

Check for treasure maps in guild stores, put up a filter of up to 500 gold max (or whatever else you prefer) and buy them all out.

It might take you some time to visit all the guild stores, and it will definitely take you some time to collect them all, but in the end you will most likely end up with what you need, and some good loot apart from that to simply sell.

I did this with a few sets when they weren't selling in guild stores and I didn't have few hours a day to farm them.

Chests are the fastest way. Weapons only drop from public dungeon bosses, world bosses and chests.

World bosses sit between difficult and impossible to solo and either way you need to wait for the spawn and spend the time to kill them. I find public dungeon bosses are camped pretty hard because they are so much easier to kill than world bosses.

Chests on the other hand you can increase your chance of a drop with the treasure hunter passive and if you can get an addon like harvest map it's pretty quick for a max mount speed character to charge around grabbing all the chests and thief troves, each one giving the same chance as a boss.

Also, the RNG'ness of it all is a bit lower now that sharpened isn't the be all and end all trait. Infused, precise and sharpened are all solid options.

You're farming wrong then. You farm gold which allows you to farm the guild stores. Trust me, It's much easier to farm gold and buy the weapons than trying to farm the weapons and HOPING you get the trait you want.

Chestfarming is the best. Wins over farming public dungeons everytime. Public dungeon bosses have a cooldown on drops, chests don´t. Follow these steps:

    1. Find a chestfarming route: This is the most time consuming part.
    2. Repeat the chestfarming route until you get the desired weapon.
    3. Make sure to have the treasurehunter passive from the Shadow CP tree.
    4. Bonus: Have the crownstoremerchant and sell the stuff you don´t need. I made 70k within an hour once when I was farming for Ysgramor weapons.

I usually find a small delve in the relevant area, then learn all the chest spawn points in that delve - go around in a loop farming all the chests.

Where Malabal Tor is concerned OP is better to just farm the public dungeon (Crimson Cove), it has a ridiculous amount of ad's that respawn quickly, chests are easy to spot. There is no reason OP can't rake in 30k per hour just from killing the ad's and bosses and then selling the crap to the vendor, the plus point is while farming the dungeon there is the chance that what OP is after may drop, if it doesn't then OP will have made enough gold to buy the gear in just a few hours..

It would actually would probably be faster to just focus on making gold and then buy the weapons.

Weapons have such a ridiculously low drop rate in this game that it will, in almost cases take an incredibly long time to get the weapon that you're looking for in the trait you're looking for. Weapon drop RNG is completely broken.

On the other hand, 100k gold can be made relatively quickly. Depending on the sword you're looking for, it could cost approximately 200k per sword which can be made relatively quickly.

I spent like 2 millions ap once trying to get spriggan 1h sharpened weapon, and all I got was one weapon with training or something.

If you have ap just buy new pvp motifs and sell them for gold, they sell pretty fast too.

Just buy the armor pieces and use a crafted staff.
Weapon drops are a RNG nightmare and even worse in 4p dungeons.
