Warden bear

So why am I not supposed to use the Warden's bear as a magicka build? It does a crap ton of damage. I'm looking to build a list of reasons

Use what you want. I think the bear that comes out of the ground is useful in PvP. It's on demand and does a ****ton of damage.

Seems the primary complaint about the Warden Bear is the eternal Bear that isn't always as responsive as folks might like. Gets hung up on stuff etc. Still I've run into both in PvP and depending on the situation both bear ultimates have been super effective at what they do. As stated, the Wild Guardian that pops out of the ground and WTF stomps you is a killer. The other bear is much easier to avoid but if it does get on you it can do pretty much the same kind of damage. It's also a very big target that gets in between and interferes with targeting the player so, depending on what your needs are I say use whatever works for you.

I tend to run in small to large groups that spend alot of time taking and defending keeps. My MagWard uses Destro Ulti because it's just too damn effective right now and I'm gimping the group if I don't run it. It's just too effective an AOE not to use at the moment.

The bear is shite for pvp, just like the sorc pets. Its good for duels tho. But for open world cyro, they are too slow, too stupid and too squishy and the AI just isnt effective enough for high end pvp in open world.

Ive tried pets on magsorc and on stamwarden, both share the above conclusion imo.

People who face "problems" in pvp playing with pets is usually a L2P issue, they can't be treated as just skills you press and forget, you have to micromanage and build your character around them.

Whether it be; AvA, IC, BG, or Duels, a good player is a good player.

Not denying AI issues but most complaints come from ignorant and bias players.

It has to be double barred so you lose out on a 2nd ult. Also northern storm gives you 8% max magicka for having it on your bar. Max magicka equates to more damage as about 10 ~ 11 mag = 1 spell damage, so giving up that much for a bear is foolish.

Also the sound that thing makes is just murder on your (and everyone else's) ears.

It's an opportunity cost thing. You lose out on other ults and both slots for the bear.

Then when you introduce more than opponent the bear becomes even less effective as priorities shift so quickly and frequently.

In duels the bear is more useful, and in PvE that's non trial based he's fine. He can even be super useful solo. But for top end play, you just give up too much to slot him.
