Anyone else experiencing graphical issues today?

I noticed some weird graphical issues today. Whenever i engage in battle, be it in PvP or in PvE, game seems to lose graphical details and the ground is just plain ground, no details at all.

When i kill anyone, game freezes for like 1 second or so and graphics are returned to normal, detailed graphics.

Although i noticed some plain black rocks etc while in Khenarti's roost, see the image.

EU PC.

Before anyone asks, i do have Geforce 980M and playing with 4k graphics without an issue, so i think there's something wrong with game right now?

@ZOS_GinaBruno can you or devs check on that?

Have not experienced what you are explaining. However, it does sound like something on your end is not working optimally/hindered. If you have had your client open for awhile try restarting the client. There has been a memory leak in game for a long time that does affect game performance. I always restart my client before a raid.

It could be anything from hardware bugging out to software not loading right. I would suggest opening a tech support ticket describing what you are experiencing.

Also, just FYI, tech support will probably suggest turning off all addons. At least it used to be in their MO since Zos tends to blame addons, though it is probably a good step to eliminate some variables and addons can affect performance.

Edit: The Harvest map addon, depending on your settings it can tax the PC when loading into a new zone mapping all the pins. Choosing a small area to map the pins can reduce the load.

yes, experienced it in pvp yesterday evening - seemed to be confined to Bleakers mainly. I quit the game and re-logged which sorted it.

I've been getting the 1 second game freeze on killing NPcs too. Started happening friday evening. Happens in outdoor areas, shared and solo quest instances.

Had a black screen for 5mins & couldn't figure out what was wrong.... Turned out my TV wasn't plugged in

I was having the freezing on kills yesterday too. Disabled all addons and it went away. Haven't taken the time to find out which it was yet. It may be harvest map because we both are using it.

I have been experiencing extreme lag when engaging npc's today aswell. Also have harvest map but haven't tried disabling my addons yet

I disabled all addons and that helped. Just bit strange, that it started suddenly today.

It didn't help that i disabled only outdated addons, so have to try and turn off addons one by one then

I was experiencing the lag/freeze when killing enemies too. So I disabled my addons one at a time and narrowed it down to "AI Research Grid" (it was updated recently). I just deleted its saved variables and now it works fine. If that addon is not the problem then maybe updating your addons and deleting saved variables could help?

Yeah, the dying pause. Im wonderin g if its cause I enabled the out of date plugins? I may disable them and see. However, I tried to visit the new house in the crown store, forget the stupid name of it, but in the circle of stones afeter you exit whatever that cave thingee is, you can walk thru one of the "walls" and the tearing is horrible! Like to NEVER got out of it !

Ever since the update a day or two ago I have had this problem- When I am fighting and my target(s) die, the screen freezes up for a second, like you described. when i was farming pve mobs this was especially unbearable... every time i would burst down a mob my game would freeze up really hard as they died. also running geforce 960M and never had this problem before the most recent update

It's ZOS messing with the code like usual. Ayantir has a good guess as to what it is and he disabled it in the latest AI research grid update.

Getting multisecond lags on Xbox. Thrn I couldn't leave a dungeon becuase the game thought i was stuck in combat.

I have had a bunch of horse related glitches.

Like I try to get off my horse and open a door but it just gets stuck in the horse calling animation and I can't use E anymore.

I had the opposite happen in another game once. The screen went black and I was convinced my monitor had failed. I pushed this button and that button and tweaked the cable etc. It turned out a mob had blinded me !

Yes, I got off work last night and logged in to do my writs. I was in Vivec City and had the "Black Textures" all over. I went and found it in almost all the zones..
Any word on this Zos???

I have this issue as well... Weird black areas on cliffs and rocks, like the texture just didn't load there.

Well, Monday's maintenance didn't fix it as I had hoped.
Still there and is becoming annoying when trying to farm chests and things.
I was running a dungeon group run and my guildies don't have this problem.
Any one else have these issues???

I've had this bug before, although it's pretty rare. Logging out and coming back seems to fix it.

The OP had the exact same bug, so it is not just me.


I have turned off ALL add-ons, I have turned ALL my settings to low, ( I usually play on high/ultra), I have even tried a different monitor, just in case it was my monitor going bad.....


I have never had this issue before. Have been playing on this rig (PC) for almost a year. i5, GTX960, 8G RAM.
I have also up-dated all my drivers, graphics card, repaired launcher, etc....


It has made playing so un-enjoyable! Please!! @Zos_Anyone!!! or any Techies!! Help me find a solution!!!

I had exactly this issue in another game called Archeage, it was a DX11 Problem with my graphiccard Driver. The only solution that fixed it was to try out older graphic Card Driver and hope that the next Driver update will fix it.

Yes. I finally fixed my problem. Thanks to the wonderful people at ZoS CS.
There was a corrupted texture file in my ESO files.
I had to do a complete clean uninstall and re-install game. Wasn't as bad as it sounds.
I did make copies of my "Add On File", "Saved Varibles" & "AddOn Settings" first.

I have been having this problem for a while now, I contacted ZOS Customer Support about it and got a few replies that ultimately told me to post about it here.

I have a screenshot from October 27th that doesn't have the issue, and I have one from November 4th that does, so it started happening to me sometime in that date range.

The things that I've noticed that are affected are:
1) The Bloodforged skin on my Argonian, especially his face which has no texture and it looks like he has no nose.
2)The block indicator, the shield pattern thing that shows up when you block. It is really hard to see, I thought it was completely gone for a while.
3) Of course, the black textures on the rocks, trees, and buildings.

I've tried repairing the game twice, with and without addons, saved variables, etc in their respective folders, and also reinstalling the game, to no avail. I attached some screenshots showing the things that I am seeing affected.
