what is this invigorating trait about?

I have some gear with the new invigorating trait.

On CP160 blue gear it says "increase regen by 7" and on purple 9. It doesn't sound impressive. Compared to other stats 7 and 9 seem like a very low numbers.

Does this trait actually help with resource regen? Or should I replace gear with this trait as fast as possible?

    It's not useless, but certainly not the best. I believe at Gold rank it gives 11 regen for all three resources. You're probably better off with Divines in most situations.

    exploration -> prosperous -> invigorating -> ?

    Seems to me that trait slot is doomed to be pretty useless. Perhaps the intention was that you'd wear 7 pieces - assuming it's cumulative - giving regen of +49 [54] for all attributes? If so it's rather underwhelming and I very much doubt anyone will do much else than deconstruct any items with that trait.

    And complain, obviously, about why such a disproportionate number of dropped items have that trait.

    You get 33 regen per piece, 11 for each resource. So 231 per piece. It is up to you if this is worth it for your build. No matter What you think of it, still better then prosperous.

    It's what they replaced prosperous with.

    It does seem like the regen bonus is low, but I don't know how the math turns out. Maybe it's better than it seems.

    This is pure speculation, but the way things changed with Morrowind, then with Horns, I think armor traits may receive an adjustment in Clockwork City. Putting out Invigorating now could get a better feel for its power level before seeing how it might need to be balanced against the other traits.

    Again, just pure speculation, but that's what I've been thinking about lately.

    Yea, better than prosperous but still bottom of the pile.

    Zos merely realized Prosperous was complete junk, even for what it was intended for. They tried to make it something that actually had some useful benefit even if it is still not great by any means. We cannot truly call it worthless like Prosperous was.

    It's low. Recovery ticks once.every 2 seconds, so the value is really half what is listed on a per seconds basis. If you had 1000 Magicka recovery you'd be getting the equivalent of 500 magicka back per second. With 5 light armor and no other recovery sources, you usually would sit at just under 800 magicka recovery. Adding 11 recovery in this scenario, where it's percentage increase would be the highest possible, would only be increasing your magicka recovery by 1.4%. At 7 pieces, it would be adding 9.7% more magicka recovery. Considering that the average cost of a skill is around 3000 magicka, 11 more magicka recovery is an incredibly small amount.
