Would you like to see an authenticator for TESO?

I might like to see one but only if there is an option to do email instead of telephone and only if it is FREE. An ideal authenticator would let you choose at the time of authentication if you want to use your email/phone; so you might be allowed to choose between the two during the authentication. Also, I only want an authentication if my IP address is different or if I'm logging in from some other state/country. I do NOT want to get an authentication notice for every time I switch computers. I could also see those of us with Steam accounts running into some kind of screw up. I do not want to be charged a fee or some authenticator gadget. Anyway, what do you all think?

You want an authenticator but not one you have to use every time you log into the game. Essentially ESO already has what you are requesting. When certain parameters change one is sent an email with a code that is required for completing the login. It will require the code when loggin in form a different PC, iirc, which makes sense, but probably not just changing back and forth between two PCs. I assume it is the same with Steam vs regular PC accounts.

This is already a thing. Try logging into your account from somewhere new or if your regular IP addresses change.

No need. They already requires us to put in an email code whenever we log in from a new ip to prevent account stealing, and if we play trough steam we have steam Guard.

If you're on PS4 (unsure about Xbox) they already have a two step program to help prevent stuff like this. As someone who's been email from Sony saying that someone tried logging into my account but couldn't because of that program I'm grateful.

I wish they'd let me opt out of those annoying emails when I use a different IP address. Unique, strong passwords have always been enough to protect my gaming accounts.
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

In almost every time I've seen authenticators used, they end up backfiring and being an easy way for hackers to lock off your account.

I really dont see it being usefull

Yup. A 16 digit random password with plenty of upper, lower, and special characters is all you really need. Why have a second step if you can just choose to have one super-strong first step?
