[Idea] ESO wardrobe/transmog system

Hey guys,

I did a quick search about a wardrobe/transmog feature and have found quite a few topics about them. But since i couldn't sift through all of them for something that matched what i had in mind, I'll make another topic about it.

1. Implementation:
So, what I basically had in mind is, that they could make something similar to what LOTRO has, a separate wardrobe window where you simply drag and drop the armor piece to the corresponding slot, at it will replace what you are currently wearing with the item that is in that wardrobe slot. In LOTRO the item will basically be copied to that slot, and you keep the initial item, but you can't actually move the item from the wardrobe slot back into your inventory, you can only delete it so that you can free up the slot, or simply put another item on top of it and it gets replaced automatically.
You have your usual wardrobe slots, so that you can make different cosmetic looks and cycle through them at any time, and this is done by simple clicking the corresponding wardrobe slot that you wish to visually equip.
So they can still make some money here, simply by making more wardrobe slots available to purchase with crown store currency. I think it's a win-win situation.

Another thing that they can do is what they are currently doing with the hats/hair/facial hair features. They actually have that system implemented so i can't see why they couldn't make it work for all item slots. Again, they could still make money off of this by making it work somehow like the LOTRO wardrobe system, just have more than 1 slot available so that you could equip a full transmog at once, and not having to replace each item every time you want to switch up your look.
The way this works is, they take all the data from your crafting motifs and make them available in the collections window. There you can see which collections you have available, how many pieces of that motif you have unlocked, and then you can simply double click the armor piece you want to visually equip. Maybe you just want the chest and helmet, or all of it, simply make a button that works as "equip all", and that way you can mix and match whichever piece from the motifs that you have unlocked.

2. Monetization:
Again, if they think that they can't really monetize this, they can borrow mechanics from GW2, they have the Transmutation charges. In ESO they might say that "Oh, but what about our crown mimic stones? They were quite handy for players who couldn't get the style mat that they wanted.", well here is where the transmutation charge comes in play. They replace each other (or simply keep the mimic stone name and just change its function). Every time you make a change to the wardrobe, you would need 1 transmutation stone to save the change. Not for equipping, but for saving the change, you should be able to equip/unequip as much as you want, free of charge. So having multiple wardrobe slots means you can make different appearances and save them, then cycle through them. Want to make a change? Use 1 charge.

Now I know that for the undecided player, this could mean that they need quite a bit of charges, but the idea behind them is that they shouldn't be something that is expensive, they should be somewhat affordable. Hell, they could even give out a fixed number to subscribed players! Even more reasons why ppl should sub. So besides all the conveniences you get, you have this extra transmutation charges. Now this doesn't mean that they should make it a Sub only feature. This could make certain players who don't want to sub quite angry. No, it should be a commodity that you can get both as a sub or non-sub player.

Now regarding the already existing costumes, they can still keep those separate, and make them visually exclusive ( what i mean is that you can only have a costume equipped or equip your own created appearance, you can't actually mix the costume pieces with motif pieces). Or they can put the costumes in the wardrobe system and let players mix/match those as well. Why they may ask? Because those costumes are still store exclusive, so they still make money off of them. They can still release cool costumes/motifs on the store, but still keep motifs obtainable through in-game actions.

3. Regarding crafting:
- If they don't want to go through the hassle of removing the styles from the craft window, or change the system, they can just simply leave it as it is right now. It would only make style mats obsolete. People would use cheap (basic style mats) to craft the gear.
- They could make it so that players can craft (replicate) a certain part of the motif, and trade it to other players so that they can learn that style. Now i know this would not really be necessary, but it could make it easier when you want to share with a friend. I think it's really not necessary but, they could make it so that crafting that piece of motif page cost a certain number of transmutation (mimic stone) charges. Let's say it could cost 10 charges to make a page so that you can trade it. That way Zenimax can make more use of the mimic stone/charge. Most of you would probably hate this idea, but I just wanted to put it out there. Let's face it, they need to somehow make money from this if we want to actually see it happen on day. This wouldn't make farming for the motif obsolete. Since some players wouldn't want to use their stones/charges on this, and would rather farm and make the profit. Plus, every new motif added would have to be farmed in order to start the replication process.
So this is my idea on the transmog system. Sorry if it's a tl;dr post.

I know that i didn't cover every aspect of the feature so please post your ideas for improvement or concerns.

Have a great day!
