Falkreath Hold 3rd Boss resets endlessly

I'm encountering a very weird issue with just one of my characters. I have a magicka templar that has cleared Falkreath Hold only once (1st time through) and all other 9 (or so) runs the 3rd boss will reset after each phase thereby making it impossible to beat the boss. If I leave the group then the boss behaves normally and is able to be killed. I thought maybe it was addons that were causing a problem but I disabled all of those. I additionally did a repair on my game but this did not solve the issue. I've tested this with multiple groups and each time I leave the group when the boss is bugged the remaining group is able to kill the boss as expected. I'm not sure what is going on with my character or if this is indeed a bug with the 3rd boss specifically but everything is working fine when I do FH on my warden.

    I submitted an support request in game around 2 days ago but I never received an email with a confirmation number so I am not sure that the request even went through.

    I have this bug on my Sorcerer, each time I do the dungeon it happens and he is always at 100% when he spawns after you deal with the 3 to spawn him. It is weird because I have completed the dungeon a few times on my NB now but can't do it on my Sorcerer. At first I though it was the story quest so I abandoned it but that did nothing so maybe that character is just bugged.

    Would you be able to fill us in on your action bars at the time of the occurrences?

    A few additional pieces of information would be helpful
    • What difficulty are you on? (Normal/Vet/Both)
    • Does every other boss function appropriately?
    • What particular Item Sets are you using?

    Can you elaborate a little more on when exactly this is happening?
    • Is this encounter resetting with Tuecille, Erbogar, and Mochveda still active, or when they go inactive and Cernunnon appears, and is active?
    • You mention that Cernunnon returns at 100% health, are Tuecille, Erbogar, and Mochveda disappearing and resetting?

    If this occurs in the future, could you try a few things and let us know the results?
    • Once the encounter resets, wait a moment to attempt the encounter again (Roughly a minute or so)
    • Can you try participating in the encounter, but not being active? Standing to the side, but making sure you're not affected by Whispers of the Defiled.
    • Swap out your Item Sets, and your Abilities, and see if changing those fixes the issue

    Normal

    Yes all other bosses behave as expected

    5 x Withered Hand, 5 x Julianos, 1 x Molag Kena shoulders

    When the fight starts you have to take down Tuecille, Erbogar, and Mochveda and deliver their essences to the gold circles. Once this cycle completes the boss comes out. We take the boss down to around 75% health and the cycle repeats. He goes away and the 3 guys come back out. We kill them, deliver essences to the gold circles and when the boss comes out the next time he has full health and fight is reset as if it was the first time my group has encountered the boss.

    Yes, I have also tried this as well. Once we got clued into what was happening we started doing various things like wiping the group. Waiting, then trying again. The only sure fire way to get passed the boss is if I exited the group and left the dungeon.

    I've tried many iterations of this. I've stayed outside the circle while the rest of the team goes in and therefore I die without having engaged the boss. Same thing still happens. If I leave the group at any point in the fight and exit the dungeon the rest of the group is able to kill the boss as expected.

    Since I just respec'd my character to tank I am wearing different sets so will try this approach to see if it still happens.

    As I don't have much time to do rigorous testing on this will answer as best as I can.

    Was on Normal

    Yes

    > What particular Item Sets are you using?
    I believe my character had on at the time 2 Iilambris, 5 Withered hand, 3 willpower and staff where Julianos (just 1 peice so no set bonus)

    > Is this encounter resetting with Tuecille, Erbogar, and Mochveda still active, or when they go inactive and Cernunnon appears, and is active?
    You have to take out Tuecille, Erbogar, and Mochveda and deliver their essences to the circles to make Cernunnon spawn, we get him to 50% easy when he spawns and when he despawns you take out Tuecille, Erbogar, and Mochveda to take their essences, each time we do that and Cernunnon comes out again he is at 100%.

    Some instances we did but same kept happening.

    Have not tried this as have not had time recently.

    Just curious if anyone in the group left the large circle of winds area at any time during the fight? Apparently that resets the boss (as per a buddy's information). It can happen fairly easily if anyone is feared or ranged and not paying attention.

    Just curious if anyone in the group left the large circle of winds area at any time during the fight? Apparently that resets the boss (as per a buddy's information). It can happen fairly easily if anyone is feared or ranged and not paying attention.

    It's quite possible but I can reproduce this every time I go in even if I have the same group that understands the fight.

    Yeah I noticed this as well, I did change out that set with something else, but I won't be able to go into the dungeon again to test it till the Friday/weekend as that is when I will have time to do it.

    Thanks for the information! We're looking at this right now and have a few more questions. Some of these may be hard to answer, but we're trying to narrow it down some more.
    • When the council go inactive, are you still dealing damage to them when someone returns their soul? e.g. A heavy attack for resources, an active DoT, any form of AoE, etc.
    • Was anyone else in your group wearing the Withered Hand set?
    • When Cernunnon is about to expel out their souls, are you noticing him taking any additional damage (not shielded damage) or the unkillable overlay (Gold healthbar) on his unit frame disappearing?
    Just curious if anyone in the group left the large circle of winds area at any time during the fight? Apparently that resets the boss (as per a buddy's information). It can happen fairly easily if anyone is feared or ranged and not paying attention.

    There is indeed something setup to prevent you from pulling the boss outside of the intended combat area

    I've played the Xbox version of eso since it came out and I've had to deal with some bugs like this one. It seems you both as well we're on normal. I just watched a video of a group finishing cernunnon on vet without a problem. So it might be limited to normal mode.
    I'm not sure that armor set is the cause. It doesn't have any outside mechanics like the ebon set so it wouldn't be able to bug out boss like that.
    Also what did the main boss health bar at the top of the screen do? That would help to to know how it reacted.

    So I was able to do a run today, did it without Withered Hand set, instead I did it with some other sets I had on hand. I had 2 Iiambris, 5 Julianos and 4 War Maiden. Was able to do the Cerunnon fight with no issues. But as terminator said above it is weird for the Withered Hand to cause this issue, that is if it is what is causing the problem.

    However on previous attempts done, with Withered Hand on, I will answer as best as I can even though as was over a week ago that I ran it with that set on.

    I have not noticed this, I think you can't attack them anymore when you can take their soul as they are at 0 health but they are just in a downed state and not actually dead(not sure on this though I could be wrong). Though as it is on my Sorcerer their could be a dot/aoe on it, or a dot/aoe from someone else, again I am not sure.

    Was with a pug, from group finder, so I have no idea who I was partied with let alone remember names as it was a week or so ago. So I am not sure if anyone else had Withered Hand. Sorry I can't help with this question.

    When I had Withered Hand set on while doing this, when you get him down to 50% in first phase, and he expels the souls, I did notice his Health bar completely disappeared when we had to get the souls from the three again.

    Compering to the run I just did before without Withered Hand set, and on an alt just fine, where the health bar does stay up between the phases.


    Sorry I can't be of more help on this, but I do hope this can help in some way.

    I can confirm that I can run it on other characters of mine that aren't wearing Withered Hand. I ran it on my Warden and didn't have a problem. I'll try to get a group going today for some more testing. I'll initially start with Withered Hand and then switch to War Maiden if things are bugged out still.

    Okay so I went back tonight and tested on the character I was having this issue with. I ran different gear (eg. no Withered Hand this time) and all was well. 3rd Boss worked as expected.

    This just happened to me again, in vet. One of the previous times that it happened (about a year ago), removing non-combat pets helped, but this time it didn't. We didn't even use combat pets this time. So I have no idea what's causing it. Haven't asked, what others are wearing, but I was with a typical bow/bow setup with relequen, TFS, stormfist there. Boss kept resetting after he was supposed to despawn at 50%, with the adds appearing in their original positions after a long delay.
