Hi,
Other MMOs have Authenticator apps adding an extra layer of account security. They are not new.
It wouldn't surprise me if this has been asked for before on this forum, but I think it's a good time to raise the subject again.
ZOS asks me for email verification when I buy crowns so why not add an Authenticator app?

✭✭✭✭✭While I'd like an encryption key, as the OP is suggesting, ESO does have a second layer. When we log in from a new device it requires us to enter a code we receive via email. Of course the smart thing is to not use the same PW for everything so someone getting access to your email doesn't have access to other accounts.1 -

✭Not needed. I get an email whenever I log in from an "unknown" IP address. That's basically the same thing.
Besides, the email I use for gaming is NEVER used anywhere else. My friends/family don't even know it.1 -
Dont think this relates to Steam users though since you cannot log into ESO with Steam linked account unless you use launcher via Steam. (Steam has authenticator)
But yes, that would be nice addition to security. Reading this post I hear there is email trigger too so make sure your email is secure to have the most right now.0 -

I'm not an expert, but would an Authenticator app also be bypassed under those conditions?

yea you can bypass both of them by acquiring the auth token and fake a MAC address0
