Bug: While a character is sneaking and moving their sneak animation is replaced by a running animation, under the following 3 conditions:

1) Having the Dark Stalker passive (vampire skill line) unlocked

2) Wearing 5 pieces of the Night's Silence set

This has always been this way, or at least for a while. I guess rather than as a day sneak animation they just use the jogging animation. It is odd for sure.

Update: I have found that equipping the "Assassin" personality onto a character will occasionally be a band-aid fix for the sprinting while sneaking animation. It will occasionally allow players to perform the sneak animation (instead of sprint) while sneaking with one of the above sets, or vampire passive unlocked.

The only catch is that the player has to also have their weapon drawn while sneaking to get the band-aid fix to trigger.

This has been bugging me for a long time, should really be an easy fix. Anyway I feel sneaking has been neglected in this game anyway, npc's seem to be psychic and can detect you entering a house or stealing an item even if you are "hidden".

I don't think it is quite the same as the running animation, but it is likely intentional since each of those passives/sets above is letting you run at full speed while sneaking. It definitely should not have the same animation as slower sneaking as it would not look right, which is a game development concern that matters far more than "I'm not crouching anymore" when you can still be stealthed and sneaky while standing up.
Do you believe crouching does anything to make you more stealthy, especially if there is nothing around to hide behind and you are in an open field? I think the ordinary sneak animation is a little strange and archaic.

There's an ideal sneak speed animation that can sometimes occur under certain circumstances (see post #4 from this thread) even when the player has fast sneak speed. It allows players to maintain a sneak animation without experiencing that "running/sprinting" while sneaking.

It actually looks quite nice, and it would be great if ZOS could find a way to harness it. I think it looks a bit ridiculous when assassin and thieves are running/sprinting through a town while sneaking.
