Missing Items

Hello! It has come to my attention that quite a few items have been discontinued from the crown store. There are a few holiday-related items, which makes sense for them to be limited, but it seems that is not the case for most items. I don't really see why things like the Baby Netch pet, Pirate Costume, Evening Dress, Kagouti mount and so on would be retired from store. Aside for manipulating players into impulsive purchases, what reason? The policy also is not friendly for newer members of the community.

Please consider returning items to the store, I'm sure many of us would love to purchase things we didn't have a chance at.

As a long-time player, and one who has purchased a fair number of limited-time items, I support your request.

Sadly, it seems that the only way you'll get a chance at those items will be in future gambling crates. That's been their model so far, but perhaps that's not the fate of all limited/retired items.

I've noticed that ZOS usually doesn't respond to complaints about things like this but I've also noticed there's quite a few players with the same opinion on the matter. I hope we'll get a response here.

Can't blame them for limiting more 'epic' items but there's a number of ordinary looking costumes, mounts and the like that have been restricted. If I missed a christmas event I wouldn't be upset about not being able to access something like a decorated reindeer mount but c'mon, retiring the likes of a black bear mount, mages guild/pirate/chef/evening dress costumes - not cool.

    Looking forward to a response.

Sorry, but you're not going to get a response from ZOS on this. This has been their model since the Crown Store was implemented, and it's clearly a decision designed to create artificial demand to drive up sales. This is a pretty common business tactic, skeezy as it is, and no matter how politely you request they change it, they won't.

As someone who's been here since launch, I agree with you about how unfair it is that items are frequently cycled out. I've been on other MMOs that never retired their cosmetics, and their cash shops were absolutely glorious to go through. The model ESO uses is absolutely awful for new players, and I'm sorry to hear you missed out on items you liked. That stinks. :(

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

I imagine the issue is not beyond fixing.

The standard edition of the game is 35 USD/30 EUR.
    5,500 crowns are 40 USD/35 EUR.
And for example, the houses players would consider buying with crowns because the gold is too much to collect, range from 6,500 to 18,000 crowns.

It's the many little things that make this game enjoyable and it's a sad state of affairs when some of the little things cost more than the game itself, sometimes several times over. There are people who would invest this amount of money but something tells me they don't represent the average player.

This 'skeezy' business tactic is not bright. I'm not going to wait for something for months to spend a stupid amount of money. Crown store needs tweaking.

Still, hoping for a response from ZOS. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
