    What do you mean ?

I.e having 2Hander but using a costume so it looks like you have a staff etc ? Could cause problems

Well I am still disappointed to this day that the broom wasn't a cosmetic costume item you could use over top of your weapon. Please make it so!

Costume can only be used with what you have equipped. You have a 2h equipped then you cannot use a staff costume.

    Easy enough, makes sense.

Transmorg is coming. That would let you change the look on your weapon, to another weapon of the same type, you can not use an bow as an staff template for animation. However is flexible enough you can use the broom as an two hand weapon.
I guess this will be very popular in PvP :)
And yes this would let ZoS sell template gear i crown store.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Hmmm. Interesting. It can partially solve read weapons and whole weapon dyes issue.

Those are the reasons why weapon skins should never happen. One of the big pros of ESO is great and realistic armor and weapon design. I don't want it to turn into a bikini-armor + "the most ridiculous weapon you can imagine" fest.

they have confirmed that they are working on a transmog system, but there currently is no ETA.

@zaria what leads you to believe the transmog system will be "flexible enough you can use the broom as an two hand weapon"? (i mean, apart from the fact that we can already do that without transmog)
that's a lot more detail than what i've seen released publicly.

I bet your type of person that moans at ppl for playing a sp game how they choose to if it difers from your pt.

Ppl can wear/mog watever they like its there game they paid for it, if it adds to there enjoyment an continued support of the game good on them

I think zaria is just assuming it will be like WoW transmog where you can just drag and drop a weapon appearance onto another. But in reality I am sure the EsO system will be very different and I highly doubt we will get to use the broom.
But I am still keeping my broom around just in case!!

You can do whatever you want in SP games. I don't give the smallest f*** about it. But once you make an online game and cater to people who like to RP and general TES playerbase there really shouldn't be giant *** and lolipos on the battlefield. Or give me a switch to turn off all the weapon skins and make those weapons look like they should.

That is true, however its two ways to make an transmorg system. One is to select style for item you want to convert, the same way as you do then crafting today or like you can do to imperial transform with non set or crafted items.
item style will be the same level, weight and probably keep robe or jerkin in short its an way to change an ugly style on sets to something else.

The other way is to use an item as style template. You can select to transform your cp160 ebon cuirass to an low level bosmer robe, if you use it as template
ZoS might add restrictions, but that is restrictions they add, as you can already use disguises and costumes in PvP this is pretty pointless.

    Agreed.
It's one of thje points I really, really like about ESO... a certain degree of realism in the weapon/armor designs. (still wish dress costumes would unequip in combat though)

Now, transmog is supposedly being looked into by the powers that be... I really DO hope they will not just let it change item style, but also take the opportunity to add some sort of weapon dye system, either as actual dyes, in the dye screen, or as addition to the transmog system, allowing us to pick lower level metal appearances so our wapons business ends don't have to be that ugly sith red...

i've heard a lot of wild ideas about how transmog could work. i'm very interested in the ways they'll make it work in this game.

one was (from i think DCUO) that any piece of equipment you acquire was added to your list, and after that the form could be applied to any new piece in that slot, regardless of stats. the proponents of this system are vehement about it. if that were to happen in ESO, i could see it being restricted by something similar to our current trait research system. i think that won't work, because then it seems like instead of me having to find a Draugr Staves Motif, i can just steal the Inferno Staff from the alchemist in Vulkhel Guard and be done with it. like, it might be the best system out there, but it would undermine the whole Motifs thing.

i also don't like the idea of making it work like Imperial or Morag Tong stuff, because that carries 2 implications.
the first is that those are historically tied to purchasing. i understand and support the necessity of ZOS making money, and i'm glad that they've mostly done well at restricting that to cosmetics, rather than any direct combat advantages. still, i would hate to see the long-anticipated transmog system implemented in such a way that it can only be bought, rather than earned. the amount of ill will that would generate would be, well, outrageous.
the second implication is how limited the conversion system has been. from what i've heard, it won't convert overland sets or Monster Sets. my Necropotence robe would still not be able to be spiky.

i am hoping it stays tied to crafting. i am fairly sure i would still feel this way if i wasn't seeing the tunnel's light on trait researches (i'm still way scrubby on motifs). a lot of people have proposed that the conversion work similar to crafting, where if you know the motif, then you can go to the table, spend a style material, and mogrify the appearance while leaving stats, trait, and set the same. maybe it'll take 10 style materials instead, like how gearcap crafting uses extra material. that might be a pain in the butt with stuff like Hollowjack, but hey, put a 50-pack of Mimic Stones in the Crown Store and there we go.

what i don't want to see is Transmog Tokens, like how you can change your name or race, being mandatory. i hope if someone's got all the stuff and the skills they can combine it the way they'd like without resorting to Crowns. of course, i don't see a problem with having that option in addition to an earnable-in-game system, for the folks who don't feel like hunting down a master crafter, sort of like how you can earn pages of Motifs, or just say screw it and buy the book with Crowns.

i hope they can find a fair and reasonable way i can keep all the set bonuses of a meatball head while wearing a light hood, as long as i've earned both. and i really hope that after all the waiting and all the hype, they don't miss this opportunity to make the community happy, and instead give the watchdog crowd another opportunity to use the phrase "blatant cash-grab". not on this one. that would be bad for business.

oh, @arbit the Bucket and Broom weren't transmog, unfortunately. those were just extremely low stat items available cheap on April Fool's Day, under a Crown Store category called "Pay to Lose"
    i liked that one
