Cloaking through Soul Assault

Well, apparently you CAN cloak through Soul Assault. Writing this right after I witnessed an enemy player cloak through my Soul Assault not once but twice in a row. At first, I thought it could've been the lag, because I lag like hell. Second time I saw it? Nah. Checked that I wasn't lagging, still cloaked through it. Is this a new thing? I'm sure it's working as intended, right?

Soul assault only prevents cloak for the first two seconds of the channel. Since SA is longer than 2s, it is possible to "cloak through it".

It still doesn't make cloak worth slotting over Shadow Image IMO.

Well, I guess I should elaborate a little more. So, I was fighting against this stamblade on my magblade, and just trying out new stuff with my character. I had Soul Assault as my ult at the time.

I see that my ult is up, and I cast it on him, and within the first tick, he cloaks, and I'm left watching my character just casting Soul Assault into this empty space that he was in before cloaking, and I am getting the sign that says, "Dodged". So, like I said, the first time, I thought it was just lag. The second time I fought him, he does it again. And, yes, I know you can cloak once Soul Assault is done, but in the middle of it? I just don't think that should be possible.

Right, and I also thought about maybe he was running shadow image, but he wasn't. Didn't see his shadow image in the open field, and even if he had it somewhere close, I don't think it's possible to cloak and simultaneously teleport to shadow image lol

What do you think should happen. You cast ultimate they die with no chance to counter?
Have him hold block to drain 25k stam?

With how overpowered Soul assault currently is to a meduim armored build being allow3s to cloak it is acceptable until they add more counter play back to this ability, for example allowing someone to interrupt it or purge the ability.

It's a counter and should stay that way.

The counter-counter would be hitting something like using a detect pot then SA. Especially if they are counting on cloak

You do not have to wait until soul assault is done before cloaking, you only have to wait the first 2 seconds. Since it lasts almost 4 seconds, you can very well cloak in the middle of it.

You should not be able to cloak before the 2 seconds tho. If it seems to you that he cloaked too soon, it might be due to lag (what you see on your computer is not exactly what he sees on his).

Piercing Mark i believe still does not prevent you from cloaking soul assault though. Since Soul Assault counts as a DoT it is still suppressed but you can see the cloaked user. You will still need to hit them with a light attack to break the cloak for it to do damage.

Haven't had a NB use Cloak to break Soul Assault yet while effected by Piercing Mark. Doesn't mean what you said isn't true though.

Obviously, you aren't seeing the point of this discussion lmao. You can NOT cloak when Soul Assault is active. Only before or after it. Never while it's being cast. Okay? So, what I am calling out here is that there is someone who can cloak WHILE being soul assaulted, not before, not after. Okay? If you read the tooltip, and cast it on an average Joe stamblade, it says players can't go into stealth or invisibility while the skill is active, and every stamblade can't use it because it gives him/her that ball of light thingy when Soul Assault is active. I hope that makes sense. Okay? If it doesn't, please feel free to carry this out experiment yourself. Grab a friend, cast Soul Assault, or have him/her cast it on you, and then try to cloak. It won't work. Okay?

Right, and that's why that's so weird. After 2 seconds, it makes sense, but before those 2 seconds? I would LOVE to know what's up. Someone told me that if you hold block when Soul Assault is cast, you can still enter cloak. Maybe that's it?

    It is working as intended.

While SA is a channel, my experiene is that it has a pseudo traveltime. Just like a Crystal Frag or a Javelin.

What this means is, that a nightblade can cloak your incoming SA. This is however close to impossible to do by reaction, and should exclusively happen on a random occurence. But since NB's do tend to cloak quite often, they WILL accidentally cloak just at you hit the SA button. This will result in what you are experiencing; a "Dodge" or "Miss" text, and you will cast Soul Assault at an empty spot, and after that it will immediately disappear.

I have no evidence to back this up with, other than my personal experience as both caster and receiver of SA.

It's kind of needed to work like this, given every other class has a defence to this, allowing cloak on this prevents the entire world from one shotting NB's every single time, it's so easy to stack up 100k tooltips it's a death sentence to every nightblade.

But no matter you're class just 2 projectiles at them and then use SA and then they will die everytime. Not an issue at all.

Honestly I think it's bugged and have no idea if Devs are going to fix it because NBs can still cloak even if they have piercing mark on them. So it's kind of lame that they can still cloak and avoid SA while they are suppose to be detected for 24 seconds...

It's not bugged, the skill alows you to see the objective even if he/she uses stealth, it does not prevent cloacking.

If you want to prevent them cloaking you have to use detection potions/poisons or mague light/expert hunter.
