Engine Guardian boss quick guide.

Edit:Found a video to better explain.The link its at the end of the text.Tho this guy is soloing (awesome) the boss it shows clearly what everyone should be doing.If you have a tank in the grp dont kick him.This boss its all about survival and a tank can help a lot with that by providing,shields,taunts on adds and some off-heals.If the tank has a destro staff or bow with skills,better.

First let me start by saying that I have been playing this game since release on PC and I love engine guardian helm so i always farm it.I have a lot of experience with this boss.

It baffles me ,each time I go to this boss how many ppl dont know how to kill it properly on hard mode(without using levels) and start talking about tactics that will just make it very hard for example,ignore adds and focus on boss.Adds are one of the main killers in this boss.

This is how i have been doing this boss for a long time.

First thing and most important is to stay together as a group.If you go by yourself and go away from healer you r dead.This is a healer intense fight so help your healer by staying close.

Second most important thing is adds.If you let adds accumulate its a wipe,because you have to deal with the constant damage the boos does plus adds all spread around doing damage and interrupting rez.The best thing is to wipe the adds as fast as possible then focus on boss,rinse and repeat.Use your ultimates on adds.Many dmg ults are placed on the floor and the boss is constantly moving so using it on boss most of the time its a waste of time.Tank (im a tank) should taunt adds and using LoS,try to get them together.But remember the most important thing is to kill adds fast.

Fire phase,avoid red circles as best as possible while damaging the boss.If you are melee (this boss is more easy if everyone is range,but its not a must) avoid the fire the boss do around him,it does massive damage.

Poison phase,stay close to healer while we dps the boss.The poison damage the boss does its unavoidable so heals its your only savior.

Thats basically it for this quick guide.Here hoping that it clarify many confusion about how to kill this boss on hard mode specially on PS4 NA where im playing now (my pc died ).

Remember,stay together always.Kill adds FAST.Avoid what can be avoided.And dps the boss whenever we r not killing adds.

Yes, but the OP was about completing it on hard mode, which means you kill the boss without using the levers.

Spread out a bit during lightning phase (adds) so the Sphere shockwave doesnt aoe multiple ppl. Run around like chickens with heads cut off during fire (make sure to be dpsing boss while running stupidly) and stack on his butthole during poisen. EZ.

Let me also add for fire phase - if you are melee just circle around the boss to avoid the spinning flame turrent. EZ

Notice in the video how he uses the pillars to loose line of sight from the adds so that they get all together ready to get killed by aoe.This is very important.But if by any reason they dont get together,go kill them individually.

Edit:ups sorry I tho you mean the boss lightning.Yeah the spheres does many different abilities and they hit hard.Thats why so important to kill the asap.

Yeah the lightning does massive damage,but better than spread (spreading apart in this boss is bad) just let the boss go away,dont follow it and kill adds while boss goes away.

you can actually do the most dps on boss during poison phase. no reason to shut it off.

I've never been in a group that did the levers in the middle. If you have 2 decent dps with lots of aoe it's best to run this dungeon just as a basic 2 dps/tank/healer set up. Less head aches. Last boss might be a little slow for a lot of groups but just do it. It will get done. Prioritize adds on the engine guardian! They hit so hard. Way too many groups neglect them. easier fight when they are down.

Most groups I have been in that wipe continually on this boss try to dps race it. This fight is one of attrition, not a dps race for sure. Stay tight, drop those adds immediately, and take your time. You can kill it every single time that way.

THIS is the ONLY reason NOT to use the levers IMHO. To make this work though you need to stack up and not be all over the place so the healer can cover everyone... also the rest of the group has to do their parts, and should also be using their own heals/protection, etc.

I healed this dungeon really early on in my ESO life, not knowing about the levers and just BoL'd our way through. I have only tanked it recently. It requires burst heals, huge HoT ticks and/or dps that can self manage. This fight really makes healers shine I feel. An "average" healer (aka people who queue for Healer but just have Regen on their bar) will struggle. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Indeed its a healer heavy fight.I healed it only two times and I was like,wtf this is healing intensive.

that can be done but have to be a very well equipped and skilled group.Not a good idea for most PuGs groups.

Has not done it on vet since it became an II dungeon but hated it.
DS2 normal was there I became an healer.

Funny thing is... I didnt know how to do non-hm on this boss for 2 years, until someone explained that for me.

still far easier without a tank though... and when it's not most novice tanks taunts don't keep aggro or position themselves or adds well enough for it be worth the dps sacrifice. Besides that there's gaint squid that's a dps check. Those are my thoughts on that dungeon.

I stay under the boss 100% of the fight as a DPS. You don't really need a healer or tank; just sustainable DPS with a shield and self heal. 4 DPS can walk right through DS2.

there's achievements for killing it in different ways so to complete them some of them are about racing
