I was wondering how many people play wearing headphones?

I started using them when I had my room mates son here for about 2 months. So I picked up a pair of headphones. I loved how it is in stereo, When you hear NPC's talking and you turn the camera how the sound changes to that side. Now I use them all the time.

Used to play using my screen speakers, had to keep them down so I'm not too noisy, so sound quality wasn't good.

Realized I can plug my headphones into my controller, suddenly the sounds for everything is so much better and I can have it as loud as I want. Definitely not going back to my speakers.

I'm using Corsair Void headset most of the time and year the directional audio is fantastic.

I also love the bass that a Dolmen put out when it spawns. :grimace:

If you plan to buy headphones, make sure to pick ones with a mic. They don't need to be pro, but there are times where the mic is useful, if not required: DLC dungeons, trials, ...

I use headphones just for Teamspeak 3. Otherwise I use none and just have my normal HiFi-Speakers as output device.

As a headset I prefer lean and light weighted office/callcenter headsets/-phones like the Sennheiser DW 10 Office with DECT, because it should be just a comfortable microphone holder for the purpose of communication, nothing else.

I don't like heavy headsets with big earcups - be their sound and acoustics still so brilliant - they always start to feel uncomfortable after a longer time imho.

i got logitech g930 with mic, but i hate them when using the mic. sound is fine but mic isnt. the reason why? voice and audio all come through the same speaker. the BEST way to do voice and game is with like a callcentre headset that only covers 1 ear. voice output through the headset and game output via speakers. Then its much easier to hear the voices over the game.

Honestly, that's about the WORST way I could possibly think of to play any game.

It's 2017, we have headsets with independent controls for all volume needs.

Most of the time I play without ingame music, only effects and voices on, and blast some music. I have a playlist folder called "ESO" with I think 17 different playlists in it. One for every occasion  The only reason I'll slap on a headset would be TS/discord required trials and guild raid in Cyrodiil.

As you noted, the audio is amazing with them...

I use headphones pretty much all of the time. These AKG K550 MkIIs suit me just fine - massive padded cups that cover the ear, closed back (but sound remarkably open) and comfortable - very comfortable. I bought them for general use, but the quality and natural sound belies the price tag and I use them far more than my other pair of high end headphones.

For those rare occasions when I need a mic, I also have some pretty basic lightweight Logitech somethingorothers that I just about tolerate. I can't stand flimsy headsets.

I always play with headphones. It already drives my partner crazy that I spend a couple of hours playing everyday, if he had to hear the NPC chatter again and again ("Beliiieve what you like", Khajiit in Grahtwood) it would be even worse.

iv done it for years. and iv used my logitech with all the audio coming through it. for gaming only, second way is best. the speakers in the logitech headset work quite well. for voice+gaming, the first way works far better. i've never had to ask anyone to repeat something.

I use headphones as to not disturb my family. Unfortunately, their continued use over the years has left me with a bad case of tinnitus.

I love my Bose sound cancelling headphones. The only way I can use my speakers is to turn it up to full blast. With my headphones, I can choose my own volume without bothering anyone. There is a built in mic on the cord, but I'm not quite sure how it works. Plus I'm not sure that people want to hear me swearing all the time. ;)

I only play with good quality stereo headphones. Speakers are great but with the extraordinary sound design in ESO, nothing can beat using quality ear cannons.

I have a proper Surround Sound setup in my game room but sometimes I'll wear my Headphone s (HyperX Cloud II) when I want to rock-out without shaking the house and pissing my wife off.

Also, my free-standing Mic is a POS and picks-up too much audio from my Speakers, so I wear Headphones a lot of the time when in Discord.
