I haven't ever been more than 30 or so on a character and I took a long break, now I am back in the game. (Obviously, things have changed and now sorcs are the prime #1 spot, so don't think I'm a casual EZ nub when I say I want to be a magsorc)

Anyways, I have been reviewing all of the skills of classes on the ESO wiki, my choices are narrowed down to 2 classes..Templar or Sorcerer. I'd like to keep to magicka, as a stamina sorcerer for example just sounds off to me. I have looked at sorc skills and so far I am impressed with them. Seems like a really versatile/mobile class, especially for something like PvP. Do those mines actually work on players approaching you, for instance? The manually placed ones* And how useful is that bolt thing i keep hearing about?

For Templar, I am not sure if I want to be a healer or not. That radiant destruction and it's morphs made my mouth water haha. All of the cleansing and heals seem attractive enough, but do people use heals to a great extent in PVP or just PVE like raids and such? I wouldn't want to be the only one on the field using their magicka on solely healing rather than the rest who are on the offensive. Is it possible I can be both offensive and healing while sustaining my magic pool?

Lastly, a relatively minor question..Maybe it does have a good effect later on. Should I choose Breton or High Elf? I can do any race/faction, but those two seem the most obvious. Do any passives trump the others? I think the primary choice would either be resistant to magic or do more damage. Is max magicka better than recovery or vice/versa? Not sure if destruction staff is better or light armor.

Oh, yeah. Is light armor the only viable option to be effective? Or can I choose another armor type? Preferably heavy?

Go with Sorcerer if you are most impressed with their skill set so far. It matters a lot if you enjoy your main class. Mines and Bolt are both nice skills that you'll get used to depending on the situation you're in and your preference in style.

You can absolutely do damage with Templar - so don't worry that you'll get stuck as a healer.

You'll be fine with either Breton or High Elf. High Elf is nice because of extra damage and recovery.

Nothing wrong at all with playing mag sorc. It's one of the best classes, and in my opinon, the most fun to play.

People just like to attack mag sorc because it's very effective- people are killed by them a lot. lol.

Any time someone says it does not require skill to play, they flat-out don't know what they're talking about, and likely know very little about the game. So, don't let that deter you.

Magplars are oftentimes rolled as healers (it's the best healing class in the game), and stamplars can be effective when played right.

I suppose the answer would come down to if you want to heal or dps. dps= mag sorc. heals=templar.
