I wish there was a blank lot

I know it will probably never happen, but I wish there was a purchasable house with nothing but like a field of grass. I enjoy building things and most of my houses have little actually inside. Maybe give one with a higher furnishing count since a it would not have anything there so should not be affected by lag with allowing more items to be placed.

Some have been talking about this recently, I think someone datamined a Cold Harbour one? I could be way off on that but that's the impression I got from some threads and games conversations.

Yeah I think it would be cool, and the player base that enjoys the housing could really come up with some unique creations. Hopefully that is true

The same way they adding tents etc to store they could of added all the parts to make a house. Several types sections of walls, floors, roofs, floors etc and let us mix and match as we wanted. The same way they added mist to next dlc, they coins have water, snow, grass, dirt. All this should of been available at release of homestead.

Definitely a cool idea. I know a lot of people would be happy with this: you could build an arena, a cave, a little shanty shack, a bandit or Bandaari camp whatever!

I also hope they'd release more structural pieces with this, like wall sections and stairs. Then, even if you didn't buy the blank lot, other houses could also have a little structural creativity. XD

"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

Ive been hoping for something like this since homestead got announced. A plane of oblivion that you can pay gold to tun into a forest area, cave, snowy cliff side, or keep as a daedric plane. The possibilities are endless.

Then you can build your house piece by piece, section by section. Mix and max various styles or have it all one style. Add walls, stairs, floors, etc. Maybe even be able to make the place look like ruins with holes in the walls and floor boards.

One day add traps, and guards. Then add the ability for people to invade a home at random to try and steal something or kill certain placed npcs. One day perhaps but i wont hold my breath

The only issue I see is they would have to provide all the Meshes and Textures for Walls, both interior and exterior, as they can be different . Then all the things that make a house a house that are not furniture. Then do this for all 10 Races. Pretty big project.

Unless you just want to build something with the planks and platforms etc we already have.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I really do like the idea however upon thinking about it..

I wonder if this would allow for extra item slots or is out of the question just simply due to the number of items it would take to Build a House.

(I figure the creative folks would use thousands of parts probably tens of thousands lol)

    I agree 100%.

The only aspect I enjoyed about housing was building my own structures out of stone and wood and adding additions to existing structures.

You're pretty limited by what you can get away with because most homes class with the color of the building materials though.

Yes, there is an empty lot coming up in Coldharbour -- though I fail to see the point.

You can't build anything worthwhile with a 200-300 item slot limit. Even 700 (which is the highest item limit I'm aware of) won't allow you to build anything worthwhile unless they introduce complete wall sections as single items.

I was never any good with Lincoln Logs or Legos anyhow. Could never figure out what to build with the damn things. Give me at least a basic structure, please....

They can always sell buildings such as different sizes and style keeps, barns, stables, towers, huts etc. We get to pick and choose which items we want to place on the lot. I for one would of liked my Forsaken Fortress on the Daggerfall Overlook lot. Would also liked my Velothri Revorie Vampire stronghold and dungeon on the lot mwith the all the lava.

Maybe though an empty lot with a trap door to the subterranean "interior" below. kinda like some of the cold harbor and riften crafting set stations are.

But also, yeah, we still need more structure elements that let us build structures like buildings and houses, not just clunky add-ons. Even if it were just a series of "sheds" (some with doors, others with doorways) of different qualities it could help a lot.

And, of course, stairs, ladders, ropes and rope bridges.

Yeah it would require some work to add actual building elements, but I think combining it with one of the smaller dlcs would be feasible. Considering a dlc like hotr or soth that are basically 2 dungeons. They have added new furnishings and I did like the additions of the trophies for normal dungeons and would like to see them add more with a base increase in every house as to the limit. If someone spends 1 mil on a house or 7000 crowns they should be able to show off all their trophies and not be limited. I think since it is primarily a cosmetic feature, adding more trophies, plaques, etc. for completing things like the main story and Caldwell's silver and gold would be neat.

I also know this isn't the sims, but I think adding elements like farming or livestock that could be harvested or killed for mats would at least give a function to housing for those that don't like purely building the houses into something. I don't think storage will ever come unless it is a crown store exclusive since that takes away from potential money in the crown store with bag space, bank space, and riding inventory already purchasable on the crown store. However doing something like being able to plant a limited amount of alchemy/food plants doesn't affect their bottom line as much and making it a skill like current crafting that takes time and investment to level would keep the in game economy from crashing due to everybody growing and trying to sell stuff. Make it similar to researching in blacksmithing etc. that increases the amount and type of harvestable things you can have.

Khajiit very much likes the idea of just a plot of land - even if it must be within a walled enclosure of some style.

Coldharbour though is just too cold and blue and lacking in sand for this one. So she waits and hopes one day for a place where she may set up a little market camp in the desert.

Which generally look like crap due to one-sided objects that dont have textures.

Ive attempted "makeshift walls" and "False-Floors" using various tricks with the platforms and planks.
As it turns out, you have to do some really funky stuff with them to make the functionality of the floor not appear ridiculous, and most of the time you have to obscure the objects themselves.

    Examples:
    1. Using Orcish Platform Blocks, Stone Slabs, and Common Counter, Island Stall's to create "walls", which only appear correctly from one side.
      false_wall_01.png
    2. Using Orcish Tapestry, Heroes to create "thin floors" that then have to be covered up or obscured.
      floor_02.png
    3. Having to "Flip" the Rough Planks, Wide upside down in order to prevent the wooden "slats" from protruding through carpets. Otherwise the only way to hide the protrusions is either to place some furniture over them (not always optimal) or to raise carpets so high above the protrusions that characters feet appear "inside" the floor.
      floor_01.png

These are just a few among many "tricks" that we, the community are using to facilitate the full use of our homesteads, given that assets like "Floors", "Walls" and "Ceilings" are currently not available for us to use.

    And also what about Doors?
There are currently no doors of any kind that can be placed, which would open up an entirely new feel to housing.
Or how about caves? Or Mortuaries/crypts/caves for us Macabre-loving folks?

There is a wealth of existing assets to choose from if Z0$ is willing to dish them out.

I appreciate the variety of landscapes and housing options we have so far and would definitely love to see more options with just landscape (with or without a wall). Creating outdoor environments is something I really enjoy, that would be welcomed indeed. :)
