ESO is great, but how to make it the BEST!

Old_Greeg29
Personally, I think ESO is the best out there. I love the voiced quests, the connected stories, lore, personalities, all of it, ESO is truly an amazing game, but some people dont think that which is is so confusing to me. SO I was thinking of some ways that would make eso feel truly open world, and go beyond any mmo even more. Let me know if you guys agree or disagree I love hearing the views, and opinions of my lovely ESO community!
1. Wayshrines - What if we got rid of wayshrines all together, or even just got rid of many. Think about this at the point of having all of them, I never really explore just to explore anymore due to going to my destination being a click away. The world is massive, but if that was taken away the world would, feel on a more large scale, aswell as I would see even more players out, and about, and I always look for more life in the world!
2. A reason to return to hubs, or travel to them - Now imagine this, after we do that one amazing quest in that small town the devs put so much work into, we actually return there for a new, or more important reason other than roleplay. For example, A certain merchant in that town sells items that are not sold anywhere else, a quest line that leads you into that town making you travel there for a certain mount, item, and more.
3. Even more quests that offer massive exploration - My favorite quests in ESO are when I start from one hub, and have to explore and head to another far away place learning, and bonding with the world around me. Now if we had more of those the world would feel ten times more lively than what it is even though it already is on a whole new level of lively!
4. Grouping tool - I remember back in an old game I use to play, the grouping tool was different, you would que looking for a group, and it would list players looking for a group aswell. Now this would help build social relationships, all while ESO offers that solo stuff aswell. It would be amazing!
Now imagine all four of these all put together... wow I would be addicted. I would be able to travel the large world, with reasons of returning to a place, see tons more players traveling the beautiful world our developers put so much work into, and grow more friendships. I just feel although I see tons of players, and socialize, It gets to a point later it is a teleport game where you wayshrine one place, do the grind, and never return. Imagine the longevity of the game, it would build larger desire for a ESO plus subs, less need to even have the crown store, due to more subs in the desire for using all that amazing content, and although people love being by themselves, and doing solo, everyone loves to see players enjoying the game aswell.
I will still be sticking with ESO as I have for years, due to how amazing this game is, but let me know if you guys agree! :)

Hello, @Old_Greeg29! Always nice to hear someone speak positively about the game. It gets plenty of criticism, and perhaps rightly so in some instances, but like you i'm in awe at what I have experienced so far. ESO is incredible.

I think many would dismiss the idea of getting rid of wayshrines or limiting their numbers as they are established in lore. Also, most players will see them as a convenient, if not essential way to get around. I choose not to use them as I prefer to walk pretty much everywhere, taking my time and exploring as much of Tamriel as I can along the way. I deliberately travel to ports to make use of boats to take me from place to place. Sometimes when I log on and play it is simply to take a journey from one city to another. No crafting, no harvesting, no questing, just travel. And I agree, Tamriel feels massive because it takes such a long time to get around. Maybe i'm just a boring old fool patient player, but that's how I have chosen to approach the game. Others play it their way. Choice is a wonderful thing!

I agree about the point of returning to hubs, or just having to travel to a certain place for specific reasons. I love the idea of having alchemical ingredients specific to different climates or locations. That's pretty basic immersion material for me. But again, I would imagine very many would disagree and give perfectly sound reasons why. Thing is... I return to places anyway, but wrapped up with a bit of low-key RP. Only last week I returned to Bleakrock Isle simply because one of my characters wanted to spend some time watching the 'aurora' as is appeared in a dream.

In summary, I think you can do a lot of what you wish without changing the game for others. Interesting post, though.

    Safe travels!
