ZOS: Let's Discuss the Option to Remove Grass (Console)

This video shows a very brief glimpse of how annoying grass is on console (Xbox One). I could definitely record a better example but for the purpose of this discussion I think it will do:

I don't know what it would take in "man hours" to allow console users the option to turn off grass but I can't be alone in supporting the addition of such a feature. Not only would it remove such an annoyance, it would seem that from a performance standpoint we would get a boost.

I bring this up because I've heard rumors (yes I hate those things) that such a feature was being considered. Please keep the pumpkins though...

Umm, why you having your camera that way for??? I don't see how grass can be "annoying". There are far more important things Zenimax should be focusing on, than giving players an option to remove basic texture that adds some sort of realism to the game.

Grass and pumpkins may need some rebalancing, but it's the branches in the trees that are way too OP. Especially if you are trying to aim for the tops of player's heads. Please nerf!!

Then you dont pvp, especially around Nikel outpost...

On pc we have an option to turn off grass. If you don't have that option I hope you get it.

on xbox when you have your camera zoomed all the way out, something most non RPers do, and you need to attack something that is on a higher level than you this is what happens... this is the xbox experience!

If you want a performance boost, getting rid of grass isn't the solution. The lighting patch (1.3) is what you're looking for

could they also get it to not force you into first person in certain areas.I hate that ***.I unbound the toggle button on that for a reason.

PC has the option, so kinda surprised console doesn't. I turned mine off a long time ago in PvE before I had all my material node distances unlocked, and to make finding things easier. Kinda cheapens the look of the ground (who am I kidding, it really cheapens the look) but it's more beneficial than having it on. I eventually turned shadow quality off as well. That gave a pretty good bump in performance (I'm playing 4k with a 970, so kinda at it's limit). You still have shadows, but they are really vague. Indoors seem about the same. If it was a single-player game, all of this would be on, but a mp game as too much performance getting sucked out when there are 5+ people running around with things like pets, etc. all doing unique movements and aoe effects everywhere.

I remember those pre 1.3 days. 100+ players on screen with smooth FPS.

Seems like an easy toggle to add since PC already has the option.

Op isnt asking for too much imo, not even asking for a performance boost, just the option to turn off grass like we have on pc. I can definitely understand how that is annoying, esp if that's the view that happens on xbox while tryin to aim at something higher.

I'm always for options, anything that makes the players experience better. Nothin wrong with that. I had to turn my grass off bc it was giving me weird glitchy graphics, at least I had the option to do so. Give consoles the same respect.

I hate PvP games that allow you to completely remove the foliage. You can 100% remove the foliage from DayZ. Because you can remove foliage, EVERYONE removes foliage to see enemy players. I'm forced to remove foliage on my client or risk playing with a handicap/gimped, which is stupidly short-sighted in an otherwise beautiful game.

It's true that shooting at enemies above you can obscure your camera with grass. I sometimes switch to first person briefly.

were not asking for all foliage to be removed, were asking for the option to toggle grass off & on, an option which is currently only available to 1/3rd of the player base.
to be clear grass in this game is just an aesthetic layer, it offers no strategic value like rocks & trees

PC players have had the option to remove since launch so can't imagine it would be too hard to add to console. Has a small improvement on fps and makes it easier to spot alchemy ingredients sometimes so I would be turning it off if we got it.

I actually turn grass off when farming alchemy and clothing mats. Can see them a mile away even without keen eye.

Nerf Altmers, Argonians, Bosmer, Breton, Dumers, Imperials, Nords, Orcs, redguars.
Also undead, demora, goblins and trolls. Add dwemer machines.

have you read the thread? of course you havent, otherwise you would of seen multiple posts by people pointing out that this is not an option on console!

ZOS has permitted us console users some really nice options - I hope they consider this.

I guess I can add this to the VERY long list of why I don't play console games

It is because the camera is behind you in third person and actually looks through the grass or trees behind you when you try to aim your bow up at another player on top of a resource tower for example.
For some reason the camera is at ground level when you aim up and even short grass behind you blocks your view.
So it is more about where they position the camera when looking up rather than removing grass.
It is also most annoying when on siege and a tree is behind you but blocks your view of what you are firing at.
Switching to first person mode helps in the first example.
BTW, the is not only on console I recall it on PC as well.

I play on PC and turned the grass OFF about a year ago and enjoy the game much more because of it. Before I discovered this wonderful option, there were a few times I played around with first person view, and I will say having the grass turned on in first person view sucks. ZOS ... please give console players the "GRASS OFF" option!
