Is it possible to stack shields? Iceheart has a shield that absorbs 8600 dmg, and hatchling's shell absorbs 5000 dmg every 15 seconds, so is it possible to have these abilies stack and for the 6 seconds Iceheart's shield is up, block 13,600 dmg?

Short answer is yes. The most recent shield to be applied will take damage first. In PVP, it is pretty common for sorcs to stack 2-3 shields.

    The medium answer is:
Everyone at ZOS (important enough to make game decisions) plays Mag Sorcs, so yes

To make the answer slightly longer, I'd like to point out that most commonly used shields are light armor Annulment (15k+ at 40k magicka) and for sorc obviously Hardened Ward(20k+ at 40k magicka). Followed by Healing Ward from resto staff(varies depending on how low you drop on health). And yes it's possible to stack all of these, question is is it worth it.

Alrighty then, seems my build is set to work. All I have to do now is to actualize it in the game.

To be fair, 2 of the 3 shields stacked by sorcs are available to everyone. DKs and Templars can also stack 3 shields, they just don't need to for the most part. From a PVP defensive standpoint, I would trade my hardened ward on my sorc in a second for a smaller igneous shield that also returned stamina. If you take passives into consideration, DKs have the best shield in the game. Just sayin...

Sorc shield is definitley strong, but if they removed it from the game tomorrow, I would simply slot annulment and very little would change for the vast majority of content. Igneous shield is probably the biggest reason DKs make the best tanks.
