Dont blame the vultures

There is much written in many posts about the dropping rate of Buoyant Armiger motifs, but I feel the need to write my part of it here now.

I meet increasingly many people from my guilds that are outraged about both the prices of these motifs in the guildbanks and the droppingrate of them. I myself have now opened 721 chests in Vvarden without finding a single one. We see now that the prices of these motifs are skyhigh, from 200k to 500k.
Most people I meet are furious about the onces that dare to ask so much for these motifs. In addition the rumour goes around that many of them have masses of these motifs in their bank but dont sell them all to keep the prices skyhigh.
Well.......people like that, the vultures, are in each society, also in real life. Vultures who without any respect for other people only are out for getting as much money as possible. Asking 200k to 500k is an unacceptable situation which undermines the pleasure in this game. Shame on them.

Dont blame the vultures. They do what is in their characters!

The real underlaying problem is ofcourse the droppingrate which makes the hunting after this motif a real pain to say it mildly. It should never have had this low droppingrate which we see today, which created the actual situation.
Please, Zos: change the droppingrates before people have enough if this and make their own choices. And dont give the vultures in this game the chances they take today.
I love this game, its my addiction and I am online many hours a day....but really: this got out of hand, fix this unacceptable situation!

Not defending price gouging or people who resort to using "artificial scarcity" to drive up the price of items... but if you and several others have hunted up and down looking for it yourselves, and haven't found it, maybe it really is just "that rare"...? In which case, probably worth the ridiculous price.

ZOS said they'll fix it. Horns of the Reach is going to come out soon and it is still not fixed :unamused:

They will ofc, but it's just interesting how this motif will soon be on the Crown Store for purchase....

How could they be hording motifs if the drop rate is this low? That doesn't make any sense.

People need to stop crying about price gouging. The market price is the price people are willing to pay for something, as governed by supply and demand. If you can't afford it, too bad. Someone else can.

Theory goes that players with infinite wealth slurp up all of the ones that in the market, then hoard them, and make more sitting on this massive supply known only to them.

Yeah, because of the fractured seller system, it's basically impossible to artificially drive the price of anything too high. If the supply is there, more players will post their listings, and the price will gradually come down. Anyone who tries to fight that will lose their shirt trying to enforce their floor.

You can do things like buying up the supply of something right before demand spikes (if you know when that's going to happen), but you can't keep it there for long because other players will farm that stuff up and cash in.

Nothing wrong with having something a little rare in the game for once. Everything shouldn't just knock on your door or sit in your lap..

With the low prices of mats and basically no way to make any decent cash from pve drops anymore it's nice to have something worth value.

Would you rather have it flooded the market like mercenary?

There's rare and then there's ludicrous scarcity. No way to make any decent cash from pve drops? I can make a million just farming Plague Doctor for a day. So I don't know what you're talking about x)

Hoarding make no sense at all as price will go down over time, if price is very high lots of people want to farm it and its limited how many players who will pay a lot.
You saw this with a lot of the Morrowind stuff, I sold green furniture blueprints for 9K the first days.

Hoarding only make sense if you expect prices to rise.

That's a matter of opinion. I think it captures the nostalgic look of dunmeric glass well but sadly it is very expensive.

The price reminds me of how glass armor should be, expensive to buy (but not this expensive)

Yeah, the drop rate on this motif needs to be looked at again. I took a break for the Midyear Mayhem, but before that I'd be running up and down the eastern half of the island for a good hour each day and I have... three pages. Found my fair share of Advanced and Master chests, too. I get that it should be rare, and I agree, but it's like... finding a decent Vvardenfell furnishing recipe-rare.

It's bringing out the worst in people too, I got called a c-word by a skeleton because we got to a chest at the same time. Twice. :c

This. Also, if they sell for a lot lower than everybody else is selling for, then someone will just buy the motif specifically to resell it for higher.

Obviously. Did you expect them to be the bigger man and sell it cheap? They wont because somevody else would buy it and flip it for mad profit. Free market pricing isnt going to change because a minority of sellers attempt to boycott it.

Are Lamborghini dealers jackasses for not pricing their cars at the same price as Honda Civics?
