What do i need to do to lvl up vampire

Have a few characters that are vampires and some that are werewolves. My WW's level fine, but my Vamp's are not leveling at all. What do I need to do? I only got the drain essence ability and use it all the time. Some of my characters have leveled up 30 lvls since getting it, and still their vamp skill is still lvl 1. I have tried using just the drain essence, I have tried just feeding and I have tried doing both equally. All with the same result, all still lvl 1.

To level vampire you just need to be one and do some XP (if it is not working then it is bugged). This will bring your work skil lline level to 10

To level skills you just need to put them in your bar and do some XP (same as other skills)

Feeding does not XP your vampire skills

Vampirism doesn't require any skills to be slotted to increase level afaik, it levels with you. Not sure how you made it 30 levels without leveling vamp though.

You should only need to earn XP. You don't even need the abilities slotted unless you're trying to level those specific abilities. It takes a lot longer to level Vampire at early levels.

If you're level 30+ and haven't leveled it at all, then it's bugged. That, or you're not a vampire. But I'm assuming you are, since you can apparently see you're still at Vampire level 1.

To be a vampire , you need to do the related quest after being bitten. Having the disease is not enough just FYI

Werewolf and Vampire level differently, Werewolf is based purely on Kill count exclusively no matter what it is, the best way to level werewolf quickly is Monkey Sanctuary in Auridon as you can feed on them infinitely as they spawn quickly. Vampire is like other skill lines where its based on the Experience points earned from killing NPC's, turning in quests, and group content. I would slot at least one ability on the bar you turn in quests just to be sure.

To be fair, if he's got drain, he should have the quest completed.

But, yeah, Vampire advances based on XP gained. The total target is ~1.3 million XP, as I recall.

Now, if you're actually gaining levels, then 30 should be enough to get you maxed out. However, if you're gaining Champion Points, like, say, 20-50, that might not be enough XP to hit Vamp 1. (I forget how much XP that costs.) But, if that's the case, you really shouldn't be calling those "levels," because they're not.

Earn XP on that character. Vampire doesn't care what skills you have equipped, what you do, all it cares about is, did you gain XP while being a vampire? If the answer is yes, then you start to get better at being a vampire (the skill line advances).

You need to earn 89,816 XP to get to Vampire 2. You need to earn 1,031,428 XP to go from freshly turned to a master vampire.

Using an ability does not do anything. Seriously. Nothing. Having it slotted will advance that skill when you gain XP. So having drain slotted when you gain XP will level up drain. Every active ability in the game works this way.

Unless a skill line has unique leveling sources (which Vampire and Werewolf do) having a skill slotted when you gain XP will advance that skill line. (Note: all world skill lines, including Vampire, Werewolf, and Soul Magic, have unique leveling requirements.)

So this is a bit weird. Are you saying that several of your characters are vampires, or that you've leveled up several other characters, without leveling your vampire?

Also, what levels? Because the XP you need to reach the next level varies, as you go up, while the XP for a vampire to rank up starts off very high. If you're a level 3 character, with the newly accelerated XP values, leveling to 30 may not get you more than a couple ranks in Vampire.

Feeding, by itself, does nothing. It's not even an ability. It's not part of the process for becoming a better vampire.

Also, terminology thing, because it does make all of this more confusing than it needs to be.

Level is your character's level. It is 1-50, and then it's done. Champion Points or Champion Ranks start at 10, and go to 630 and beyond. Gaining 30 CP is not the same as 30 levels, and has vastly different XP gains involved. To the point that a character could go from CR10 to CR40 and not earn the 90k necessary to hit rank 2 Vampire.

Advancing skill lines is (or used to be called) ranks. You're a Rank 1 Vampire, not a Level 1 Vampire. Because level is your character's level. Now, I'm not saying that everyone uses those terms consistently, but when things aren't working out, it only increases the confusion all around.

Also, because the original post was a bit confusing, I hate to say it, but, earning XP only counts for the character you're on. When you're advancing your Champion Points, that gets pooled across all your level 50s, but for things like skill lines, you need to be on the character you're trying to advance, to actually, well, advance them. Earning XP on another character won't make your alt a better vampire, for example. It may increase their Champion Rank, but that's all you can do without logging over.

You are talking about the skill line right? Not the Vampire 1-4 that shows up when looking at the effect? If you're talking about the latter, then you need to not feed. If its the former then its really odd that its not leveling properly.

Let me clarify; #1 have over 100 characters across 4 accounts, 2 PC- 2 XB1. #2 when I said a few are Vamp's/WW's, maybe out of that 100+, I have like 6 Vamp's and 6 WW's. All the WW's lvl fine, no issues. #3 I buy my vamp's & ww's from the crown store. No quests are needed I just got the abilities. I gave up a long time ago trying to get infected. #4 I buy either one for my characters when I first make them. When I make a character I come up with a bio in my head as to what type of character I want them to be, then I make them. #5 All of my vamp's have been vamp's between lvl 1 & 10, all are between the lvl's of 11 & 36, all are still lvl 1 vamp's. Spread out between both PC & XB1. I'm beginning to think that since I bought the ability instead of being infected with it, is why it doesn't work.

Yes I know that only CP is spread out for all my character's for their server or system played on.

Well your first mistake was wasting money on something you can get for free, usually in less than an hour. I've had a total of 8 vampire characters and I didn't pay for a single one.

Though to your point, perhaps the purchased version is glitched. I can easily see how such a thing would go unnoticed, since nobody with sense would actually pay for that.

Vampire Skills were scaled for L35 to L40 characters. The skills are set up to require as much exp as an L35 to L40 would get. Which means a character who is L1 to L10 who is trying to level Vampire Skills and the Class will spend a long time earning Exp before seeing a rank change.

How this changed with One Tamriel I am not sure, but based on how little Exp a low lever gets I would imagine it has not changed all that much. So, grind on the L36 for a while and see if starts to level up.

I leveled Werewolf to rank 10 in an hour, probably less than that. Are you waiting for the feeding animation to play out? If you cancel the animation, it won't work.

Trying going to the monkey sanctuary or the beach with all the sea vipers near Vulkhel Guard.

Just slot a vamp ability and quest. Im Almost lv 2 after completing 1 quest. Make sure the right bar is active when turning in the quest.

I leveled Vampire fairly quickly, I put a vamp ability in my action bar and did dolmens, just make sure when you get the final xp credit you have that action bar active, like the others have said.

The more abilities of a given skill line you have slotted on your bar when you gain experience, the faster that skill line levels. Want to level Dual Wield quickly? Slot 5 dual wield abilites...works the same for vamp, though you only have a few abilities you can slot from that skill line.

P.S. The exception to this is mages and fighters guild abilities. Mages guild stupidly levels by finding boks and fighters guild is better and levels by killing undead and daedra

No, it does not.

Class, armor, and weapon skill lines (including dual wield) work that way. World, guild, alliance war, racial, and (obviously) crafting skill lines do not.

You gain the exact same XP for your vampire line if you have drain, mist form, and batswarm slotted, as you would if you have none equipped.

It really does not matter with vampire. You can hover over the skill bar to see the level up conditions.

agreed.... NEVER buy the bites from the CROWN STORE as it cheats you out of being able to experience the quest lines. ZOS needs to fix this.

While "leveling" has been tweaked a few times (was "adjusted" in Morrowind last I think), the VAMPIRE skill line was designed pre ONE TAMRIEL, and the experience was commensurate with level 30+ as I remember. That is to say, the required experience to level the VAMPIRE skill line was in line with the amount of XP needed to progress beyond level 30, with roughly an additional progression in VAMP with each level gained beyond 30. If a character is beyond level 50, and with CP, the progression will be much faster... just as sub level 30 progression will be painfully slow.

If players need a bite, ask in chat, it's courteous to "tip" 2k gold IMHO.

Apparently if you became a vamp at lvl 1, you should reach vamp rank 10 shortly before you hit level 40.
