Do you have more than one crafter?

No. But then, currently I only have one character...

I can see leveling crafting on an alt, if just for the daily writs. I definitely cannot fathom researching every trait on an alt.

I have four. But then when I started, I had no idea that there were rare and expensive motifs and that they are not account-wide. It just made sense at the time when I was levelling my first toon to level a craft for him too. And it then made sense to spread out the crafts over different toons because of the skill-point cost.

It actually really annoys me that these things aren't account-wide as it massively penalises those who did it this way - for no apparent reason.

I have 9 of my 12 characters at max lvl crafting, 7 have all traits, i do writs daily & the hirelings are lovely, just wish there was an alchemy hireling with small amounts of solvent\reagent.

    More than one

Almost from the beginning I played many characters; I have one who maxed blacksmithing specifically to learn every motif of daggers possible

Usually with each craft I picked one to be the "primary" crafter of that art, and then at least one to be the "secondary/backup" person of that art, with ongoing deconstruction/working up skills on all of them.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I honestly think I hate crafting... I tend to not get orders right.. and make the wrong thing... why I don't know... but it's just frustrating to craft for others, so most don't know I master crafting a few months back. I don't think I will do it again, just not fun, but I do think I will master alchemy and enchanting and maybe provisioning on other characters because the passives have some benefit to combat game play; alchemy reduces cooldown for potions, echanting decon glyphs better from dugeons, provisioning longer food times.

Why did you not do them all on one?

Well, it was 3 years ago when the game first came out, I had no idea what I was doing, honestly. If I could go back and redo, Id have it all on one. I'm too lazy now to even bother with it, whats done is done. lol
I split the crafts across my characters for a different reason - there were less skill points back then. I had 4 crafters at launch (one crafter for gear, and one for each of the other crafts).

    Yep and its infuriating.
I have one that does woodworking, clothing, alchemy and enchanting and one that does blacksmithing and Provisioning.

As such I have to buy motifs twice and I can't craft a lot of furniture.

I didn't really know how the crafting systems worked when I set it up like that. I just only learnt the crafts my first character would need to be self sufficient.

To fix it would take too much time and I am too lazy to relevel it.

What everyone does seems to be out of laziness on this thread lol

Yeah i'm good with 100% motifs learned in game, along with 1,163 patterns on one char not going through all that again

You are consistent with motif learning. The rare ones are still elusive. SO you're telling me you know all Yokuden and Bouyant Armiger motifs?

More then 100 chests and I never found any Bouyant Armiger anywhere on Vvardenfell :(

I have all craft on my main. Didn't see need for a separate crafting toon. And I am glad I didn't.

Wasn't the drop rate supposed to get fixed :/

They did make it easier, its still hard though to find one before the fix it was around 1,000+ chests per page now about 200-300

Dziezus H Krijst 200-300 chests for 1 part of the motif. Well guess I skip that and just craft the ones I know. I wear costume most of the time anyway and crafted armors are not better then overland loot.

Deconstructing armor should also have a change of gaining knowledge of that motif's armor piece though.

1 Mastercrafter who can do it all, this char also gets all the motivs, recipes and so on.

For my toons i usually only level the gear/weapons i use with them, so my sorc learns woodworking and clothing, my tank only blacksmith and so on, sometimes i add provision and alchemie just for the writs and hirelings.

When i switched over to the PS4 I intentionally created my crafter first and did it relatively quickly. As I had been away from the game for a year, collecting all the necessary shards and skill points wasn't so much of a chore had i left it to my 2nd or 3rd toon. It was all pre planned and as such, I got the 9 traits in the least amount of time and all the older motifs were a lot cheaper than on my all over the place X1 crafter.

3 - For mats and Master Writs

Crafter 1 - All crafting skill lines, all 50, 50% done on research, got all the passives, but need most motifs
(this toon does all the node harvesting and container harvesting, has the Treasure CP passive, and she does the Master Writs)

Crafter 2 - All crafting skill lines, all 50, 95% done on research. some passives, need most motifs
Crafter 3- All crafting skill lines, all 50, 20% done on research, some passives, need most motifs

Will probably level the crafting skill lines with my other toons but not worry about passives and motifs, so that if we have another event like this last year, I can at least do normal writs and get free materials.

The cost of Motifs and some provision recipes is the main thing that is holding me back.

I have one Master Crafter, all skills, all points invested (cept for the useless ones) almost all motifs and all traits and all recipes.

I have an Alt Crafter that knows a good number of motifs, and is on their 8th trait. She is 50 in all crafts. She knows about 80% of the recipes.

I have a Blacksmith that is 9/9 in Metal, and knows less motifs than the one above. He is 50 in all crafts too and knows all the recipes.

All my other alts, except for my 3 inventory mules, are L50 in all Crafting.

I have three crafters with different functions, and it is an entirely RP-based setup. The one sorc is not terribly interested in equipment crafting. One guy is a tailor by profession. And the one jack-of-all-trades specializes first in equipment crafting and is branching out into others to support his furniture-making. It's because of who I made them and has nothing to do with game mechanics (except for the expansion to make furniture, they kinda force that so I'm glad it fits).

I have 2 that have all 6 crafting skills 50'd (and another with all consumables 50'd), one has pretty much all the motifs (sans a few super expensive ones) and 9 traits, the other's slowly catching up. I've started sending all my intricate gear to my warden and letting her research stuff I have duplicates of.

It's not like I NEED 4 crafters, I just have the mats and I'm not doing anything else with them. It also feeds my 'main' with a stead supply of writs to be doing 12-24 per day. Bank rolling my expensive collecting hobby with them enchanter writs.
