starting area

ibervangb16_ESO
I played this game in the beta, and recently bought the game. Today i decided to give it a go. I seem to be starting on the Firemoth Island, which isn't the starting area for my race. Atleast according to the information i have gotten. My race is the Khajiit. The game didn't let me pick an area to start in. I would like to start from the original starting area. Is this even possible? Or is it pointless to do?

Go to Vulkhel Guard. You should be approached by a hooded stranger which will begin the Wailing Prison and then Kenarthi's Roost. IMO, it is not pointless to do because there are shards and skill points involved.

So do i have to pick, which start i want to do? or can i do 1, and then go back and do the other?
I just liked that underground start

You can do both of them. Since you are already at Firemouth, do that one and then go to Vulkhel Guard. Then go back and finish Vvardenfell later or finish it now and go to Vulkhel Guard later. It's your choice.

Yes! That's what you go to Vulkhel Guard for. Talk to the hooded stranger and the Benefactor and you will wind up in the Wailing Prison which is the area in the video.

This dosen't work. I just keep getting send ½ way across a map. So *** designed, shouldn't be so hard to start the main damn quest. No wonder this game had to remove its monthly subsciption

Out of curiosity, did you talk to anyone in Vulkhel Guard? You should run into an npc "hooded figure" somewhere in town. Talking to them starts the soul-shriven/coldharbor prison quest.

To be honest she usually grabs you by the wayshrine.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

Yeah. The hooded figure is easy to miss if you're not expecting him. I actually missed it on my warden when I ported to the mainland to do a holiday event. I believe it quest auto-started when I visited the harborage for my faction.

Indeed, those who got Morrowind get the new "starter" intro. Which I feel does not really make any sense... so I tend to go through the slavers at firemoth isle, and then take the next wayshrive to the starter city (Davons Watch, Daggerfall, or Vukhel Guard), where usually a hooded figure pops up right away... talk, follow quest, get sacrificed, escape coldbarbor, do starter isles, contine from there and re-visit vvardenfell another day... makes much more sense to me.

Did you buy the pack that let you choose "any race, any faction"? Did you check that your Khajiit's alliance was Aldmeri Dominion? Did you know that Vulkhel Guard is in Auridon, which is located at the bottom-left of the map? Did you speak to everyone around the first (probably the only) wayshrine in Auridon (or Daggerfall or Stonefalls if your khajiit's alliance isn't Dominion)? Did you speak to a pale-skinned human woman in a red( and black?) robe?

Give us more information before you start ragging on the game.

I will say this: If you are completely new to the game, and end up somehow way outside of your alliance starting zone, and don't know how the map/zones are laid out, or where cities are? You can spend a long time trying to get places following quest markers. Quest markers for out of zone locations will frequently point you someplace that doesn't really make much sense. (I did this a long time ago, spent ages in EP territory trying to find my way to my next Fighters guild quest, which was somewhere in AD territory).

it's because they shoehorned the MORROWIND crap into the beginning. I played through the beginning with alts many times before MORROWIND and it was great, but the uncomfortable insertion of the MORROWIND "beginning" make the whole experience very incongruous.

The insertion of the MORROWIND "beginning" was meant to provide the backstory of how you ended up in the wailing prison, but I usually just get to VArdenfell and immediately go to the nearest wayshrine (you can catch a boat as well I think) and port to my proper start area... where NPCs will mention your soul state, even though the actual event hasn't even happened.

I regret buying MORROWIND.. excepting the warden class of course.

agreed and correct... also I think the "hooded figure" actually shows up in all starter areas regardless of alliance (ie. she's there in Glenumbra, Audiron, etc.).

When I saw that there was no option where to start the game with another character after getting the Morrowind 'chapter' I was really pissed off. I'm so glad that I started the game before getting Morrowind and saw how it should start. 'Shoehorned' if a very polite way to describe how the game changes if you have Morrowind right from the start.

What I think is the strangest about the new start is that you are not soul-shriven if you haven't done that quest. In a surprisingly high amount of quests you actually only survive/resist X because you don't have your soul at that time. Earliest example would be
    the Glenumbra public dungeon quest.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.
