I haven't worked out the cp or enchants whatever you need to get 17k health and still be able to sustain. Witches brew for food then spell critical and magic regent potions. Thief or atronauch mundus stone. What do you guys think?

Seems like the normal build most people run I believe. Maybe a few minor changes. Hopefully someone can chime in and give you a better answer. Think of this as a bump haha

Personally I would use 2 pc Lambris bc how strong it is in vma. Also certain stages negate is more useful than overload

Pretty nice setup. I was just testing with something very similar last week. Adjustments you might consider: With Necro having a high magic pool is important so I'd go with the max mag+health food. Running destructive touch and force pulse is very costly, especially if you swap away from witchmother's brew.

Maybe take off force pulse and add endless fury to front bar. Overload hits so hard that it feels like a DPS loss to weave that and endless fury while having it on hand with your front bar would allow for easy single target kills using just that and your staff. Since getting the kill gives you back magic, it would be very cheap and effective.

Bound Aegis over matriarch would probably be best. You'll get the 8% boost to health from the pet and the 8% boost to magic from Aegis. Would make for a very nice magic pool.

Those adjustments should make sustaining the build a bit easier and would allow you to take the thief mundus for more damage.

When I was testing I too went between kena shoulder and pirate. In the end I found that with netch, my familiars pulse alone was doing a great deal more damage so I went with Kena, removed deadric prey and slotted Boundless Storm. The AOE damage gets a really nice boost from Netch, the speed boost is helpful, and you get that damage mitigation you lose from not running pirate.

You seem to have two threads going on, and the first one got burried. I'll say what I already said again.

I think Power Surge on your Overload Bar is a bad idea. Not saying you couldnt pull it off, but you would have to be on your game to keep that active. 98.7% of the times that I die in VMA on a sorc, I realized I let my Surge run out. In other news, 74% of statistics are made up on the spot. It is the most important skill in your arsenal and the single biggest reason that sorcs dominate VMA.

Necro is great in the arena. I think you can do better than pairing it with netch. Good jewerly and a monster set is far more useful, and that way you arent forced in to 6 light armor. I also am not a fan of single target DOTs in there (looking at you destructive touch) because other than bosses, nothing should be alive for 8 seconds. I would say poison injection is an obvious exception to that rule on stamina, but it is also an execute. Frags is much better burst than DT. I also find the sorc execute to be unnecessary, but I do think it could help sustain. If I were to run it, I would probably front bar it so I could quickly tag enemies that were about to die. It's pretty useless on an overload bar. Overload bars are about utility not DPS in there. After the ulti nerf, it doesnt work nearly as well to just overload the bosses. I have also messed with Daedric prey, and find it to be a waste of a cast except for bosses. Again, things just die too fast in their to setup a long stream of DOTS.

If it were me, I would replace Daedric Prey with Surge and Destructive touch with frags. I would then front bar Meteor and back bar your destro. Whether or not you use Bound Aegis or Matriarch is a toss up. I have gone back and forth. To be honest, I like the pet. It draws aggro, and it's a pretty amazing oh crap button. If you are new to the arena, I might suggest finding a way to double bar your shield, but its certainly not necessary.
