Change Defiler Set the same way as Viper / Pillar of Nirn

So the defiler set is pretty useless currently because it is very unreliable, slow and rarely hits...making it more efficient or uping the damage at the same time is an issue for pvp...so to balance it and make it useful again my suggestion is to change it the same way viper was changed and make it basically similar to pillar of nirn:

Instead of 6000 burst poison damage make it 2000 burst poison and 6000 over x seconds with a 1 second delay (summoning animation) but make it hit reliably...

pillar of nirn has the bonus of irresistable bleed damage and defiler has the bonus of the stun... having a dot is at the same time beneficial for pve since most people run dw builds while making it less critical to pvp.

Because i really like the set, the animation, the work that was put into it, but it's just a "waste" currently...

thoughts?

    I agree it needs a change. The simplest change I'd like to see is an extended duration for the Hunger. It doesn't last long enough to land its attack because of travel time and the animation of the attack. Make it last for 10 seconds, perhaps?

    this will also drastically reduce efficiency due to cooldown tough..maybe just make it spawn faster, move faster and hit more reliably...thats why i opt for a dot chagne as well so the pvp'ers don't get salty

    Does the hunger count as a pet? I'm just wondering because pets from items sets got buffed on pts.

    Ah, I see what you're saying. Good call. Earlier in July I suggested that they have the Hunger spawn next to the enemy that it procs on (similar to the Daedroth for Maw of the Infernal):

    I've said this before in other posts, but it's worth repeating: Leave the defiler set the way it is.
    Ranged Attacks:
    Getting the defiler to 'do its thing' is only a problem when you attack from a distance. IMO ranged attacks should NOT proc pets that traverse the battlefield ... there's enough visual clutter from the barrage of arrows, fire balls, lighting bolts, magic attacks, not to mention the siege weapons. I'm not interested in adding to that mix an army of defilers too. Too much visual clutter, too much lag.
    Melee Attacks:
    The defiler set works great when up close and personal in melee combat (the 'proc' --> 'barf' --> 'de-spawn' cycle occurs rather quickly (while still allowing 'counter play')).

    On the lighter side:
    The defiler has a mind (albeit zombie like) of its own:
    •Sometimes when soloing pve trash mobs I won't realize it proc'ed until I happen to turn around (my 'pet' decided to go after one of the trash mobs behind me or off to the side of me);
    •When my 'pet' spawns while I'm fighting multiple trash mobs, it will sometimes take a few steps, stop, do nothing and die (I'm pretty sure its zombie-like brain got overwhelmed);
    •There have been times when I used my bow 'just outside' of melee range against a single pve target when my gigantic, lanky-legged protector spawned, and, while watching it wobble-jaunt toward the enemy, too many times I've heard myself say: "You can do it!" LOL!
    --> This is the only armor set with a built-in sense of humor. Leave it as is1 B)

    i would assume it counts as pet and benefits from pet sets such as hunt leader or warden skills like bond with nature?

    I dunno, i think even in melee it is incredibly slow, sluggish and misses a lot...besides that, i think making it a dot would solve a lot of problems since you could increase the damage making it actually useful in pve while at the same time not as wrecking in pvp - cause with a direct burst damage, it's gonna be always either way too much for pvp or way too little for pve...

    I like defiler and have been using it in place of Viper recently, though I wouldn't use it in PvP. Sustain takes a nose-dive with sets like that and I prefer to run Marksman + Hawkeye or Ranger, since I mostly play ranged these days anyway.

    viper might become more interesting for pve when it becomes a dot maybe
