Where to find Nirnhoned and Nirncrux?

Title says the basics, where can I find nirnhoned equipment for research and the nirnhoned item for creation of this trait?

Yes I tried googling this stuff, but I kept getting stuff back in the VR14 days and this feels a bit outdated?

These years old infomation told me I can find both in northen Craglorn or guild stores, is this still the case?

It pretty much hasn't changed. The only way to acquire a Nirnhoned item naturally is by completing the majority of the main quest in Craglorn, which will reward you with one Nirnhoned item at the end of Dawn of the Exalted Viper. Otherwise, you can buy nirn items from guild traders. For nirncrux, you need to do a LOT of farming in Craglorn or buy it from guild traders.

Edited to add......nirncrux is from farming wood, iron, and clothing nodes.

Thank you~ I am glad to hear not much changed, I just didn't want to spend hours in Craglorn looking for something that may not even be there.

I'm a little low on gold and saving up for some other things so I'll try to find some nirncrux and get weapons later when I get more gold. Again thanks for the detailed friendly response.

I just found a Fortified Nirncrux last night in Lower Craglorn while mining some Rubedite. It still shows up from time to time.

One change, you can find it in both Upper and Lower Craglorn these days.

As stated above, only in Wood, Metal or Cloth nodes. Note, Cloth nodes can also include animals that drop leather.

The Trait is not worthwhile at the moment, other than maybe on a Shield or a weapon, but only for niche builds. People really only use it now to research for the 9th trait.

@coop500 If you DO start farming Craglorn for the nirncrux, pray to RNJeesus first. It can be somewhat rare. And as Nestor pointed out......the one thing that did change is that it is no longer only found in upper Crag.....it can be found anywhere in Craglorn.

Not so much farming anymore.

I buy almost all my mats for writs, except ancestor silk and nirnroot (which is too damn expensive). With about 8 hours of farming over the last couple of weeks I have about 25 fortified and 8 potent, not counting whatever I consumed running master writs. So, add another 30% or so on top of those numbers.

The interesting thing is that I typically find 2-3 in the first 20min and then after that nothing. I think there is a timer built in, so when I actually need more my strategy is to harvest until I have 2 and then come back the next day. I don't think the timer is a day, just how my schedule works out.

This, and also you can get nirnhoned weapons from vet Maelstrom arena + weekly trial rewards sometimes drop nirnhoned gear.

Anywhere in Craglorn resource nodes. Ore / lumber / fibers.

Might be my imagination, but droprate seems to be improved a bit.
