Does bone shield protect the caster or party without the synergy? Don't they have to hit the synergy to use bone shield? How reliable is that in groups that people will hit the synergy?

I recently created a Warden that I'm gonna turn into a healer, but she is going to be hand-to-hand weapon base. Before anybody tries, yes I know it isn't the best idea. Restro staff is obviously better. Yada yada yada. It is just very hilarious to me to try this out and I am having a lot of fun with her. I've actually won a duel with her already once, though against another new character, and it was just hilarious to me.
I also know that I can't have two sets of skills, since you aren't allowed to switch weapons without having a weapon in your main hand. However, I did learned that I can use a shield while still using my fists. My shield will just be on my back...
Anyways, to explain a bit more deeper with what I wanna do with her, or try in this case. I wanna build her to be wearing medium armor, to give her bit more of protection since she is at such a disadvantage but will be using magicka healing abilities a bit more. I did made one of them into a stamina ability for her though, but I will enchant her medium gear with magicka boosts mostly than with stamina boosts.
The thing is, I am not entirely certain on what type of armor sets I wanna go for. I thought about going for multiple sets to increase my weapon damage as much as possible, as this will increase her fist damage. That way when I'm alone and do solo content, I can reasonably kill stuff (right now, at level 17, she can technically kill things on her own but that's low level. I'm talking about what will happen once she reaches cp state), but not entirely sure...
So asking here, what does you guys think? What kind of balance should I go for here while still sticking to my original purpose of this character?

Unfortunately there is no way you will reliably be able to heal anyone in a group environment where you would be relied on for heals (ie everything except nornal dungeons).

Yet I succeeded being a healer for a group dungeon that I qued for...

Um. I thought normal dungeons are Delves. I'm talking about Group Dungeons. The things you gotta actually que for. I don't see how you can do those without healers and tanks at all.

I generally don't consider Veteran and Trial dungeons as "most group activities" personally. Just harder ones, which I understand completely. I am not gonna use her for Veteran or Trial dungeons.
