EU vs NA

CrazyChipmuunk
I'm playing with the idea of starting a toon on EU servers because I live in Denmark and thought it would be easyer to find people for trials, and maybe not so laggy in pvp and group stuff at reasonable hours but I don't really like the idea of starting from scratch agen even though I'm only cp 360ish I put a lot of time into 1 toon and got 2 others at cp lvl. So i would hear you guys what's best EU vs NA

EU has better scores for end game PVE. Not sure about pvp or quality of the community doe...

I have one on EU. I pop in from time to time, or when NA breaks. Sure, it can be hard starting from scratch, but it can also be fun :)

EU is always better than NA at video games because they have way more leisure time than us.

For the uninformed American (my post from Reddit ):
Europeans have far more leisure time than Americans. 4-5 weeks (depending on your country) is the minimum mandated vacation time in every European country (but many people have 8+ weeks). Many countries also mandate shorter work weeks and/or regulate out-of-hours work (which means your work doesn't follow you home). There are also more public holidays in European countries, and workers are given more personal and sick days to take off. And finally, education is free in most European countries, so students don't need to work part time jobs. All this leaves people with more time for gaming.

In contrast, the US has no minimum mandated vacation time (Canada, also in NA, has a measly 2 weeks). Most employees work long hours that extend beyond their regular shifts (if I remember correctly, Americans work around 300 hours longer per year than Europeans). The average cost of undergraduate tuition is $30,000/year in the US, forcing most students to work while studying. Americans must also work to survive, since healthcare costs money (a lot of it), and you don't have insurance unless you're working.

As for OP, stick to NA if you don't mind the lag and if you can find people to play with. If the lag is an issue or you can't find people to play with, then make the switch (you're only halfway to max CP so it shouldn't be too bad catching up). :( It's too bad this game doesn't have a server switch service (they should sell it for $20 like GW2).

eso+ goes across both servers but anything you buy is for that server only.

Wait. Where in Europe do they get 8+ weeks? I wan't to move there! Like seriously, in every country I know it's between 19 and 26 days. Disabled people usually get a week or so more, but that's not something I would envy them. And when I finally get some time off (10 days at most), I'm beeing called once or twice for an hour or two anyway.

But to the topic. I didn't notice many differences. Maybe except for a fact, that on NA servers people tend to be louder and more straightforward, which might be taken as being less friendly. The only true difference are latency (in my case 50ms vs 200ms) and peak hours (so people that tend to play a lot at night or early in the morning might actually benefit from chosing a different server).

I have toons on both servers. PC NA toons are CP325ish and PC EU is CP200ish.

Starting over isn't hard and it doesn't take long IMO to get my EU toon to CP160 it took 4 days 8 hours, all my crafting is at 50 except stinking enchanting and that at 38 (and holding) and I'm a very causal player.

Living in Denmark. Playing on NA server. Why? Just... Why?

I'm pretty shure your ESO+ sub will stay with you on any server. Sub is account-wide and it doesn't depend on server.
Starting from scratch will be quite hard job, yes, but you'll get better server latency and more people for trials and other group content in your time zone. Also, you can start with another class so it'll be more interesting to level up than making the same toon as you've got on NA.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

One thing does. I checked last night and had Morrowind on EU. Looks like direct cash purchases hit both accounts (crowns are shared but using from either depletes the pool).

No EU country has 8 weeks minimum vacation. But it's not uncommon to get there after many years of service. In countries like France, where the work week is only 35 hours, you get additional vacation days (on top of the 25 day minimum) if you choose to work 40 hours/week (which is of course the standard in most countries anyway ). 19-26 days = 4-5 weeks, which is the minimum in every EU country.

In the US and Canada, you get 19-26 days of vacation after like 30+ years of working for a company. Minimum is 10 days for Canada (except Saskatchewan where it's 15 days) and 0 days for the US. For the people that do have vacations in North America, many don't take advantage of them due to lack of separation between work and life.

My gf and I actually joined EU to play with friends and for the same reason for trials. Sadly we were wrong. Our friends quit the game and unfortunately could never find anyone wanting to do the trials besides nSO. Couldn't get into trial guilds because we hadn't completed any vet trials yet (which is a stupid guideline considering you would think joining a trials guild is so you can eventually do vet trials) and also join PvP guilds. Well, she ultimately quit the game giving up. I have tossed in the towel and primarily switched over to NA since I'm from NA anyways. Seems much more active. I agree with you, I do wish they had some way of transferring your crown purchases and character profiles over. I have a lot invested on the EU but it is pretty much unplayable for me now due to lag.

I've played on both servers and the EU server is a far more experienced community with far more high end players, older players on average and far more organisation and community.

the NA server has more role players, more of a rotating new player base, etc. its just a fact - i think americans , etc will play lots of different games whereas in the EU the community has taken up this game and stuck with it for the most part .
