What weapons for solo Warden

Sheylara
Sheylara
Hi everyone, super newbie here. Only been playing 3 days. I've read that it's good to specialise in 2 weapons, but I don't know which to choose.

I'm playing a Breton Warden and want to make it soloable. Personally, I like 2H swords or a sword and shield combo. I suppose I don't mind staves if it's advisable for me to use use them. And I think dual wield daggers might be cool, too. I do not like bows.

Could I get some advice on whether I really need to train two types of weapons? And which ones would be a better fit for my character? Thanks!

Your race implies magicka, your weapon choice implies stamina.

Choose magicka or stamina and build towards that.

Sounds like you would prefer stamina. DW, Bow, Two Handed, and SnB are your choices. Sound like you'd like DW and probably pve for a while, so I think you should go Bow other weapon for now.

Just because your race is magicka oriented don't worry, pve it's fine for a long time.

Try it out and let us know what you think :)

Edit: by the time you are comfortable you may end up leveling up all the weapon lines lol

You typically want to go all magic with staffs or all stamina with bow and dual wield or two hand.
As I understand stamina warden is better at damage, but magic warden make good healers.
Start with dual wield or two hand and add bow at level 15.
If magic its fire or shock staff.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Others are right about choosing magic or stamina. HOWEVER, don't stress for now. No choice you make now is locked in. You will not miss anything you can't pick up later. Any skill points you spend can be easily returned to you.

Play around with all the weapons, and abilities, and enjoy learning the games and it's endless systems. See which feel fun to you, and which do more damage / help more. Just explore the world and enjoy seeing the sights, lol. This isn't a set rule, but you don't need to start thinking about long term weapon choices until like level 20. And even then you can use any or all of them.

And you already joined the forums, which was a great idea. If you run into specific questions, this is the place. For general learning guides I'd refer you to:

    ESO Academy
    Tamriel Foundry
ESO fashion (to see armor styles, furniture)
Sunshine Daydreams Guide to Crafting (for all of the crafting aspects of the game)

    Have fun!

Shackle breaker is ONLY BiS for heavy

Amberplasm + Necro + Tri stat is better stats than Shackle breaker necro brew

I don't know why streamers advocate a non bis set up (unless they too poor or don't wish to grind)

If you want breaker, go heavy.

Thanks for the advice, everyone! :) For now, I've chosen to go magicka and use the destruction staff because of Breton skills. I thought I might as well take advantage of it even though some people say it doesn't matter so much.

The main reason I wanted to decide so early on which weapon(s) to specialise in is to help narrow down the choices for spending my skill points each time I level up. It's really hard to decide when there are so many to choose from in all areas!

Play however you want ... you can always respec into another skill line if you don't like it.

That said, there is a lot of good advice above my post.
